Only if the FBI agrees to enhance it.

Crap!

So your vanity that titled “So if I cancel…” was to just start a “Conversation”?

I hear ya. But can you do those things if you cancel your electric account, or don’t pay your phone bill? Will you computer still send emails if you don’t pay your wifi/internet?

But your doorbell cam....I guess that’s different.

If NSA is checking out my electronic crap, they have to be insomniacs. My daily goings on raise boring to heights even Elon Musk can’t reach. I do however flip off their satellites when I go relieve my bladder sometimes. I believe they are invading my rural country privacy. I also holler “ hey get lost I’m peeing on my trees”. 😛

The emails will go to the account. You just quit paying for access.

Yep. If you move take it with you. If you cancel, smash it with a hammer. In fact, some people might want to get a security cam to keep an eye on their security door-cam.

Ha.

When my workplace university library started putting in some surveillance cameras, then more, I said to a friend “Another layer and they’re going to put one in the toilet bowls in back to watch us.”

She said: “Good. I’ll be sure to give ‘em a good show.”

Note: Actually much later Law and Order SVU had an episode of a pervert who secretly placed his own tiny cameras in women’s public restroom toilets and kept creepy track of their urine color and so on. Caught after a young woman in a coffee shop dropped her cell phone into the toilet and saw it.
Season 5, Episode 25, titled “Head”.

A Person of Interest has been detained. You don’t say:)

Not referring to news alerts. "Person Of Interest" was a television show ten years back that had a tech nerd and a lethal agent guy working for "The Machine" - an artificial intelligence program that had achieved sentience like SkyNet of the Terminator movies.

It used data gleaned from cameras, phones and personal computers to discern criminal activities and would set those guys on a mission to go right the wrong.

And now here we are...except today's real A.I. lacks any moral imperative for good. Without tying it down with rules similar to Isaac Asimov's ethical Laws of Robotics it's a synthetic sociopath.

- Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics are: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or allow a human to come to harm; 2) A robot must obey orders given by humans unless it conflicts with the First Law; and 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as it does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Asimov later introduced a "Zeroth Law," which states that a robot may not harm humanity as a whole.

It’s probably also in the unread User Agreement that they can sell you videos to others, even videos they took after you cancelled.

Not cool. The SuperBowl commercial showing how Ring cameras are tied to a unifying program that found a girl’s lost pet tells us “The Machine” is now a reality and they used one positive use to gloss over the ability to abuse it’s capabilities to benefit whoever ultimately runs it.

Until the program ends up running the person or persons who were using it.
