For the first time in recorded human history, scientists have discovered a generation they claim is actually less intelligent than the one that came before it.
Neuroscientist Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, who previously worked as an educator, argues that people in Gen Z have become cognitively stunted as a result of their over-reliance on new technology, like smartphones.
With records being kept on academic achievement for the past 200 years, this sudden decline from Millennials to Gen Zers was attributed to this rapid digital development, with Dr Horvath explaining before a Senate committee last month that this drop happened despite young people spending longer than ever in school.
Gen Z are the first age group to grow up with easy access to the internet both at home and in school, which Dr Horvath explained has caused a provable loss in skills related to problem solving, reading, memory, math, and paying attention in class.

This thread needs to be bttt. Plenty of good content.
Interestingly you see this played out on Jeopardy. The categories have been changed to include more modern culture stuff and word puzzles. It is amazing how much of the stuff that I consider everyday knowledge stumps even the best players. I’ve watched Jeopardy since it was first on in the 60’ and it has been dumbed down.
Correct.
The mean/median IQ of white Americans is 103 and the educational attainment is the same or better than western Europe.
While the black mean/median IQ is 80 and Hispanic is 85.
And it cause a lot of problems.
Could be worse. Mean/median Ashkenazi IQ in Israel is 115, and Gaza is 67.5.
That’s a 3.17 standard deviation swing for those in Rio Linda.
Or 99.924% of Askenazi Jews are smarter than the average Gazan.

Quality of education content matters.
Quality of teacher matters
There is no good education avaliable in US public systems and damned rare in private systems.
Homeschool in small groups

All by design. It would be too obvious if those in power made it illegal to teach reading and writing, as they had done in the past for slaves. So instead, they make it illegal to teach anything other than propaganda, useless information passed off as valuable, and indoctrination.
Even if we import the “smart” ones (assuming they aren’t just scammers) what are the chances of their family that they bring with them also being smart ? India is an open sewer for a reason. Just because one guy is smart doesn’t mean his family is also going to smart …they will probably be of average Indian intelligence (stupid)
One more paid liar, blaming technology in order to cover up that for more than century the system has been indoctrinating instead of educating, intentionally teaching misdirection, propaganda, and ignorance.
They have intentionally suppressed and supplanted critical thinking.
But yeah, he's blaming the computer and phones - not coincidentally two devices that have helped expose the indoctrination and share it with others.
"Your kids are failing because you let them use the computer and have a phone, not because we're intentionally teaching them nonsense and misdirection to shut down their thinking."
“When I was a boy of 14 my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21 I was astonished by how much the old man had learned in 7 years.” — Mark Twain.
End the H-1b visa now!!!
Them Devo boys was ahead of their time, for sure...
“I think the widespread use of calculators in classrooms also plays a part.”
Now that comment I can confirm... I’m old and we didn’t have calculators while I was still in school, and I was never very good a math. However, my Navy career was very math intensive and was initially a bit of a struggle for me. Along about 1970-71 I was deployed to WESTPAC and on a trip to Atsugi found a Panasonic calculator that was about the size of a brick and barely fit in my flight suit pocket, but it did all the basic math including %, square roots, and some other basic stuff. I bought it and it made my life so much easier! Spreadsheets are the other thing that probably actually discourage people from “learning” to do math... Just my $.02
“For the first time in recorded human history...”
This, and similar phrases, are a BIG warning sign that what follows is hyperbole.
