Elon Musk took to X on Sunday to claim two-time Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan “has lost his integrity” while debating Lupita Nyong’o’s speculated role in “The Odyssey,” Helen of Troy.
On Sunday morning, one X user claimed that if Nyong’o plays Helen of Troy, it is “an insult” to the Greek poet Homer, who wrote “The Odyssey” around 700 BCE, because he originally described the fictonal character as “fair skinned, blonde, and ‘the face that launched a thousand ships’ because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her.” Musk later commented on the post, “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”

Look on the bright side Elon, NO ONE is going to watch it anyway.
Oh, for pete’s sake. This DEI bullcrap is so far out of hand it is disgusting and ridiculous.
How about a white actor playing Shaka Zulu soon?
Idiotic in the extreme.
Is this the odyssey where Homer Simpson goes to wakanda?
Helen as “the face that launched a thousand ships” would be the Iliad, Elon, not the Odyssey.
Sheesh.

Star Trek had the good sense to change the story more than enough to make it an "homage" rather than an atrocity.
Right, I think we’re talking Penelope here.
Going for the “Stunning and Brave” Oscar.
The world’s wealthiest man sure concerns himself with stupid inconsequential things.
“Helen as “the face that launched a thousand ships” would be the Iliad, Elon, not the Odyssey.
Sheesh.”
He wasn’t quoted and your reference to the Iliad is incorrect. Sheesh.
Lupita Nyong’o’s role as Helen of Troy in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is not confirmed, despite Elon Musk’s critical comment on the rumor.
Wait and see.
Helen of Detroit
Stop watching TV or expecting anything on TV or in the movies to be any good. Problem solved. #KillYourTV
But I'm angry now!
“The world’s wealthiest man sure concerns himself with stupid inconsequential things.”
Wow!
Amazing that someone like you feels like he has to give advice to the world’s wealthiest man.
A man that has built an empire. A man whose vision is to establish a colony on Mars.
A man who has kept our space program going.

She [Helen] is a central, pivotal figure in Homer’s The Iliad and is described as having unparalleled beauty that drove men to fight.
The line originates from Christopher Marlowe’s 1604 play, The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus, where Faustus proclaims, "Was this the face that launch'd a thousand ships, / And burnt the topless towers of Ilium?"
Hollywood has rarely adhered to historical accuracy, but these new requirements make a joke out of any attempts.
The phrase “the face that launched a thousand ships” comes from Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, not from Homer, and Marlowe is clearly referring to the Trojan War. That story does belong to the Iliad tradition.
But a faithful Odyssey film includes Helen, since she was indeed a character in the Odyssey.
This is not new for them. The BBC did a Trojan War mini-series with a African playing Achilles, I passed on watching it.
Will do the same with this movie if this casting news is accurate.
See #18.
