QUINCY — A routine traffic stop in Quincy escalated into a brief pursuit and physical confrontation Tuesday, ending with a local woman taken into custody and several criminal charges filed, according to the Quincy Police Department and jail records.
Police said an officer initiated a traffic stop involving Roxana Marisela Gonzalez Velasquez on Jan. 27. After initially stopping, Gonzalez Velasquez allegedly decided to leave the scene, prompting the officer to pursue her for a couple of blocks. Officers reported that she failed to comply with commands and became physically combative once the vehicle was stopped.
During the encounter, police said Gonzalez Velasquez fought with the officer, threw dirt, and spit at the officer before being restrained and arrested. Authorities confirmed she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.
Officers also discovered three children inside the vehicle: a baby under one year old, an 8-year-old boy, and a teenage girl. Police did not report injuries to the children.
Gonzalez Velasquez was booked into jail on multiple charges, including attempting to elude a police vehicle, assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Jail records show she was booked on Jan. 27 and released the following day, Jan. 28, with no bail set.

I believe maybe 4 or 5 Chicago PD, FBI and Law and Order episodes had an officer or detective shout “Stop.” and the suspect actually stopped. Hundreds of episodes have a long chase. I decided track stars in high school and college were the number one need for law enforcement.

In one cop show the cops would yell stop, and if the pero kept running they would laugh and say, “where the heck does he think he’s going.” They always end up finding the perps. Where is the average person going to go?
