A "Star Trek" actress says conservative backlash is pushing the franchise to lean harder into what she calls its "super woke" identity. Among the critics is White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, who has accused the franchise of abandoning its core audience.
Gina Yashere, who plays Lura Thok in the new Paramount+ series "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy," responded online after sharing a clip from comedian Bill Maher’s show that touched on the controversy.
"All of the hatred coming at us is from fragile, angry White men, talking about either our non-whiteness or our bodies," Yashere wrote Sunday in an Instagram post.

I’ll not spend one second on this POS, now because of that spew, it’s now to nano seconds.
I don't mean the morons in the shows/movies or directing them. You'd think at the corporate level though, there would SOMEBODY who actually wants to make money rather than losing money. You'd think the Shareholders would make enough chit roll downhill from losing money to finally force those companies back to common sense - which no doubt will mean firing a bunch of the Wokesters they're currently employing to make their schlock nobody watches. Bueller....Bueller......Bueller.......nope! There's nobody. Not one single adult around in a position of authority to force the companies to change back. They've already lost billions of dollars and still they refuse to alter course.
Its exactly the same with the corporate media. They're all DYING. Their audience has shrunken dramatically and the age of their audiences is ancient. Its pretty much just Baby Boomers watching them now....which means their already small audience is set to get a lot smaller in the next 10 years. Meanwhile Independent Media is growing like gangbusters which shows that there is still an appetite for news - its just that people do not trust the corporate media anymore. Still, they REFUSE to alter course. They're going to ride those companies right into the ground. No adults in sight.
Amazing.
Don’t forget get Nerdrotic on YouTube.
Friday Night Tights is not to be missed.
And Nerdrotic’s Spock Action Figure Livestream is what got this party started. :-)
“All of the hatred coming at us is from fragile, angry White men, talking about either our non-whiteness or our bodies,”
AKA, the core Trek viewership demographic (or was, until Paramount decided to drive them away).
He did to Paramount what Drinker's Tron: Arse, and Avatar: Tired and A$$ reviews did to Disney.
“…EVERY major studio and streamer passed on it. “
In entreating others to see it you should have led with the above. My response prior was “Yeah, right! I should go watch some Hollywood asshole’s bullshit.”
When someone says they hate you...
Believe them.
“You’d think at the corporate level though, there would SOMEBODY who actually wants to make money…”
This is how you know you are dealing with hardcore political ideologues.
Hollyweird knew that they couldn’t use new intellectual properties to push their propaganda, what Drinker calls “The Message”, so Hollyweird hijacked well-established and much-loved IPs like Star Trek, Star Wars, et al to do it.
They’ve blown billions on this stratagem.
It hasn’t worked.
Hollyweird is still cranking them out, though.
Where’s the money coming from.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Usually they just attack the fans but now it’s White mens fault because she was in a pile of garbage
Ain’t Affirmative Action wonderful.
I’m not sure what Michael Landon’s politics were, and I do remember that he was pretty much a libertine degenerate in his personal life.
But, in the 70’s and 80’s, he had a lot of success producing and starring in family-friendly, uplifting shows that portrayed strong families, religious faith, and such in a positive light.
Point taken.
Verbinski talks in interviews about the streamers being absorbed in their algorithms, which are basically replication machines, about studios with fixed templates, about outside investers fixated on ROI ... all of which leads to risk aversion and a fear of originality.
The little guys are more willing to take risks. They don’t answer to a big corporate bureaucracy with 15 producers interfering. And of course, it’s easier to take risks on a low budget film.
She should be blaming Kathleen Kennedy for making them make such Crap
“Everything woke turns to shit.”
Star Trek is woke. Always has been. Always will be.
The Critical Drinker guy always has the best reviews. LOL
They at least gave us Jerri Ryan to look at.

Who gave us B 0bama to lead us ...
Well.....Jerri Ryan and her husband were in a pretty bitter divorce. He refused to come with her when she moved to LA to do the ST Voyager job. It turns out hubby did all sorts of shady stuff...and therefore was a lousy candidate for Senate. Its not her fault that her husband had skeletons in the closet, chose to divorce her and that the Republicans had no good alternative to run against Obama.
Still my point stands, despite all surrounding political drama.
