Why managers are cutting Gen Z so fast, and the behaviors behind it
Daily Overview ^ | 01/11/2026 | Silas Redmond

Managers across industries are terminating Generation Z employees at a pace that is starting to reshape early career norms. Instead of the traditional multi‑year ramp, many Gen Z hires are being cut within months, as supervisors point to recurring behavior patterns and a widening gap between expectations on both sides. The trend is forcing companies, and young workers, to confront what is really driving these rapid exits and how much of the problem lies with individual conduct versus outdated systems.

At the center of the tension is a perception that Gen Z brings fresh energy but also a different relationship to authority, feedback, and work itself. Managers describe a cohort that is highly vocal about values and boundaries, while leaders still measure performance through reliability, initiative, and communication. The collision between those standards is where jobs are being lost fastest. […]

A detailed rundown of (why) reasons bosses are (firing Gen Z) highlights patterns like chronic lateness, ignoring dress codes, and what supervisors interpret as disrespectful tone in emails or chat. Another gallery of employer feedback notes that a perceived lack of motivation sits at the top of the list, followed closely by poor communication and difficulty accepting feedback. From the managerial vantage point, these are not abstract generational quirks but concrete behaviors that make it hard to trust someone with clients, deadlines, or confidential work. …

But whatever they do or suffer
hiring older experienced workers
is definitely not something they try

And the result is an infinite loop
of more of the same

but surely too difficult for them
to figure out 😄😁🙄😀😕🤣🤣

The elephant missing in the room is the abysmal competence of the younger generations, courtesy the marxist education system. They are barely literate, can’t do basic maths, can’t memorize anything and have the attention span of a slug. All while convinced they do much better than a daily wage Chinese worker.

It’s the phone.

It is the new root of evil. Going to be worse when it is also one's "money".

I think GenZ is rebelling against the work ethic of GenX. And I think it’s reinforced from their daily two minutes hate they get from Reddit groups.

I think they despise how their GenX parents spent so much of their life at work, doing work, everything revolving around work.

It’s not the phone, it’s the social media, the phone is the facilitator.

This is the second participation award generation that was raised by the first participation award generation. Unlike the first generation they had no opportunity to at least see reality.

When I entered fourth grade in ‘61 it was the first year they stopped teaching what they called “deportment.” It included how to hold a civil conversation, how to set a table, and a host of civilizing behaviors. They said all that would be taught at home. Instead, we got “New Math” and “Sight Reading.” Both massive failures. I think that is where the civilizational decline began.

A couple of companies I worked for had management training programs which covered things like that because, obviously, some deterioration in deportment was already noticeable. I recall a high-level manager who reportedly sat with a Japanese delegation holding his knife and fork in his fists while being loud and bellicose. The Japanese bowed and left and wouldn’t return phone calls. So, the problem isn’t new. But it is more universal now.

the companies are blaming AI, when in actuality they simply over hired and they want to fire people at their whim.

When people blame our Deep State diploma mills, I have one question...

Where were the parents?

And then once they’ve reached adulthood and can see that what they want conflicts mightily with life in Realville, it’s the responsibility of young adult to suck it up and get with the program until said young adult has been with the employer long enough to be valued. And then Gen Z can be cut some slack. If Z still wants/needs it.

Note to Gen Zers with issues: Some people actually enjoy working for a living. Not necessarily the mundane job, the disappointing salary, or the coworkers, but the challenge to deliver excellence in everything you do.

Try it, young’uns. You might find you like it.

Booting the able-bodied off the gravy train won’t solve the problem of entitled idjits showing up at an employer’s door thinking the world owes them a living.
