Why is my doctor worried about my mortgage payments?
So I found myself wondering as I filled out a questionnaire before a recent primary-care visit.
Along with the usual prompts about my health, I encountered a series of questions related to my financial situation.
The form asked whether in the last 12 months I was unable to pay my mortgage or rent on time, and if I was “worried that my food would run out before I got the money to buy more.”
These questions weren’t an attempt to gauge whether I would pay my medical bill; they were part of a campaign driven by political activists out to justify socialist policies in the name of improving health care. […]
The questions I was asked reflect the activist obsession with what’s known as the “Social Determinants of Health.”
The way the argument goes, factors like income, education, neighborhood conditions, racism, access to transportation and so on heavily determine a patient’s health.
The World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control repeatedly assert that these factors are major drivers of disparities in life expectancy, infant mortality, diabetes rates and cardiovascular disease across racial and socioeconomic groups.
But it’s not true: The framework is based on critical logical and empirical fallacies.
It confuses correlation with causation, while systematically downplaying or ignoring biological, behavioral and genetic variables that often have far more to do with differences in patient health outcomes.
But that’s what you’d expect from a notion that has nothing to do with medicine — and everything to do with politics. …

Refusing to answer means “yes”
My thoughts exactly.
Just lie. Don’t refuse especially the guns question because refuse means yes.
I filled out one of those forms before a doctor’s appointment. I’m in my 70’s. It asked me if anyone harms me. I said no. It asked if anyone yells at me. I said yes.
When we arrived for my appointment they separated me from my wife.
They asked me who yells at me. I said it was my wife and my son.
How often do they yell at you? Every single day.
What do they yell about? Anything and everything. They just keep yelling and yelling until I put my hearing aids in. Then they stop yelling.
Tawny or ruby?
Slip and fall hazard.
I write NA on the first question then just draw a line down through the others.
😂😂🤣🤣
That there is funny.
Just add the word “water” to any question that asks about guns.
I was ready for them this last time. They had verbal questions that they asked again several minutes later. I think I pissed off the nurse, repeating the answers every couple of minutes: John Brown, Kingston...and I added Jamaica.
“””I just had my Medicare wellness exam last week. I don’t recall that many questions, but when the PA got to shots and vaccines, I said no thanks. She didn’t push it.”””””
I brought my son in for chemo today. The NP asked if he wanted to get his Covid and flu shots today. I said no. That ended it. They are not allowed to say anything if you deny it.
Got to stay one step ahead of these Doctors, especially the ones who think they know everything because of some category you now fit into. The good part is you spoke up about what you were already taking.
Many patients would be chilled into silence in front of the All Knowing Doctor.
Getting cute means “yes”. Just lie.
I do recommend the shingles vaccine. It doesn't prevent it, but it lessens the symptoms.
I had it, though I was given the vaccine. I can't imagine the symptoms being worse than what I had. Shingles is nasty!
You wouldn’t believe what they might ask in an EHR system.
Somehow I seem to have fallen through the cracks, perhaps because I don’t have a “primary care physician” at the moment. When (unfortunately not “if” at my age) something goes wrong, I’ll go see a doctor. Until then, I hope they leave me alone.
“”Shingles is nasty! “”
I had it about 10 years ago in my 50’s. It came out at T-10. Painful stuff. Never did get the vax for it.
Our doctor helped out the shrink from 25 years ago wouldn’t say he wasok for a carry permit.he wrote the letter so the state would give him a license to carry.
He likes guns too!
If it is not about your body it is none of their business.
Do not answer some and leave others blank.
If it is not directly about your health just decline.
Look they can not even make you weigh in. They can not make you answer other things either.
My gynecologist questionnaire from like 4 years ago had all kinds of tranny questions and I’m like huh? You freaking delivered my kids 20 years ago aholio! I don’t have a d**k!
Never answered, never returned.
