Watching the Idiotapolis news conference with Mayor H Jacob Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho Frey and I am wondering if that lady doing the sign language is actually saying anything.

I am not fluent in Sign language, but those Signers can be very distracting from the speaker. Closed Caption should take care of that obligation to a great degree

There was a case in Florida a few years ago where the sign language interpreter was a complete fake. IIRC, it was during a county emergency management presser for a looming hurricane. The hearing impaired viewers were furious.
