Elon was the one upset IMHO.
He was all about government cut backs, but wasn’t to happy about those impacting EVs and Tesla.
It’s always “different” when it’s oneself.
But that’s just how I interpret things.
There is an eco-anarchist group over in Germany that just took down a German power station...they are particularly fond of targeting everything Tesla. They call themselves Volcanoes of some such thing.

I kind of experienced what you described first hand when as a youngster just getting involved in politics.
Often spoke with friends, family and acquaintances about the need to reduce government spending. Nearly always got initial agreement until we hit upon a program that they liked or depended upon.
I realized at a very early age how difficult the task will be. No matte how inefficient or obscure a program is, there are people who will very vocally and aggressively defend it.
To quote Ben Franklin: "we must all hang together or we will all hang separately."
I think he might make more money from his space effort now.
