Mr Zelensky Goes to Washington (Again)

War may be a boon to politicians and bankers, but it is life-or-death for everyone else.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is returning to the White House on January 28 to discuss the Russia-Ukraine War. The visit ostensibly concerns a proposed twenty-point “peace plan” that European Union “elites” have constructed to counter President Trump’s ongoing peace negotiations with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin. Given that the European proposal essentially denies Russia any of its stated military objectives, Zelensky’s efforts appear to be little more than another theatrical scene designed to demonstrate to the world his (insincere) willingness to sue for peace.

President Trump has already hinted that he expects little of value to come from Zelensky’s return to the White House. He told Politico after Christmas that Ukraine’s holdover president (who has remained in office nearly two years beyond his elected term by declaring a state of martial law) “doesn’t have anything until I approve it…So we’ll see what he’s got.” Still, President Trump continues to give Zelensky and Europe’s mouthy warmongers (or as Europe’s militarily weak but loud and threatening “leaders” prefer to describe themselves, “the coalition of the willing”) every opportunity to bark like small dogs, run in circles, nip at America’s heels, and pee on the Oval Office carpet.

Zelensky’s visit comes after Ukraine’s president/dictator made a number of controversial statements in the lead-up to Christmas. While speaking at a European Union-arranged press conference in Brussels, Zelensky all but admitted that he and Europe’s aristocratic ruling class had secret plans for Ukraine’s future that first required President Trump’s death or departure. “The United States currently does not see us in NATO. Everything in our life is ‘for now.’ The position may change in the future,” Zelensky said confidently before adding, “Politicians change, some live, some die.”

“Zelensky’s efforts appear to be little more than another theatrical scene designed to demonstrate to the world his (insincere) willingness to sue for peace.” At the same time, Putin’s special phone calls with Trump are all peace and light, despite the fact that Putin is following Alexandr Dugin’s 1997 plan to conquer Eurasia and control much of the rest of the world. The Russian is to continue fighting and gaining territory in Ukraine even if the war must continue for 10 more years or longer.

As to anything Z might have said concerning life and death of leaders, Putin is probably a lot more likely to die than Trump. There are people in Russia at every level who are very angry at what he is doing. There are people at the top with their own private armies who would prefer peace and business. There are many bereaved family members who have been cheated of the death payments for their lost soldiers.

Russia took 180,000 criminals out of prison, and promised freedom if they survived service. Some of them are back home and there have been over 500 murders by soldiers, half by exconvicts. Prigozhin took 50,000 prisoners out of jail as recruits for his Wagner paramilitary. He fought for his recruits and was probably murdered by Putin. Then Putin plowed up the special cemetery Prigozhin had made for his fallen troops. Leaving desecrated ground with no graves marked for any bereaved family or fellow soldiers. These people are angry and the soldiers know how to kill people.

Zelensky seemed quite calm in Florida. I suspect he knew Putin would pull some trick to avoid moving toward peace. THe phony “drone attack” on one of Putin’s many homes is a hoax, but it gives Putin the excuse for not moving forward on the peace he really does not want. The story about large numbers of Ukraine drones attacking the Putin home has been disproved by no evidence of either 80+ or 40+ drones tracked from Ukraine base to target, or leaving any burning or debris after a visit. Only fools believe the lies coming from the Kremlin.

Have you noticed any of these activities being carried out secretly by Russian “special services”? Have any “isolationists” shown up at FR suggesting we should ignore the rest of the world, and concentrate on the US alone. Putin is Trump’s buddy, surely Putin has no intentions of destroying the MAGA program.

That misses the recurrent reality. Russia is losing and in the long term has lost. T e damage to the Russian economy will take at least ten years to rebuild.

The nightly drone destruction of oil refineries, pipeline strong points, railroads. and various critical military manufacturing capabilities is destroying the Russian economy and ability for the armies in the field to wage war.

At will, Ukraine drones can strike the Kremlin. Russia has no effective means to prevent such a strike.

Aside from the loss of fuel to support the logistics, the railroads and bridges are being damaged at an ever increasing rate that severely slows and stops the already inadequate Russian military logistics system.

Russia’s woman central banker has tried repeatedly to warn him. In fact she may be one of the few people who actually tries to tell him the truth. But he is riding the tiger, and is still trying to figure out how to get off without being eaten. His latest move has been to tell her to reduce loan interest rates to 10%, probably about half of their current rate. He has killed a lot of his laboring force, and much of the rest is working in the 40%+ portion of the economy engaged in the higher paid defense industries; except that Zelensky is unemploying a lot of them, and with longer range missiles and drones will unemployment even more as the new year advances. Hardly a wise time to borrow money to start new business.

In addition to the factors you mention, the various Stans and Azerbaijan are beginning to look to Turkey for their future prosperity. When I saw a large map the other day I was surprised to see that Kazakhstan is more than 3 times the size of Ukraine. Who knows how many resources besides oil they may have. Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are currently cooperating on developing a pipeline that completely bypasses Russia.

Who knows what deals Zelensky and Erdogan may have arranged regarding Crimea. Crimea was early ruled by the Crimean Khanate which had broken off from the Golden Hoard. Eventually the Khanate came under alliance and a degree of vassalship of the Ottoman Empire, for over 3 centuries, until Russia’s Catherine the Great won it in the battle with the Ottomans around the same time the US won its war with England. The Ottomans had complete control of the lower coast of Crimea, but the Khanate had more control in the north of Crimea and in their relations with the other Khanates and rulers to the north of Crimea.

The Stans and Caucasus countries were mostly under Russian rule and misrule for several centuries. When Russia fell apart in 1991, they along with Ukraine were quick to declare their independence and establish their own governments. The current weakness of Russia makes them even more protective of their independence from Russia, as well as interest in their Muslim origin. Russia won two Chechen wars, but if things get bad enough, the Chechens may fight again. Various oblasts (Russian states) have populations that are getting sick of how Russia treats them. If Russia has another 1991, it may shrink still further.

China is paying attention to the Siberian area as well. China is not happy with the development of petroleum resources promised to China by Russia. Siberians of various ethnicities are not happy with how Moscow has treated their fighting age men. Whether various things will change, even without the severity of a 1001 collapse, bears watching. For Putin it is another big worry.

So many things going wrong could worry a man to death, as Zelensky has pointed out.

A rather interesting thing happened this week, barely reported - in response to a resurgent production of the “evidence” that NATO promised not to expand, some Russians presented some other information from the same period.

Putin, Dugin, Zhirinovsky, and a few others, were in a camp that in effect thought that the post-USSR “geopolitical reality” would be that the so-called “commonwealth of independent states” and some of the states that used to be under the Warsaw Pact, would be absorbed as vassals, back into the Russian sphere of influence. Specifically, the named states included Ukraine, Belarus and Khazakhstan. They were the camp that utterly rejected the independence petitions of some regions of the Russian Federation (like from Chechnya and Tatarstan).

In 1997, Russia and NATO signed the NATO-Russia Founding Act, establishing cooperation and consultation, AND confirming Russia accepted NATO’s open door policy. This was of course after the Budapest Memorandum and Belovezha Accords had already confirmed that Russia agreed that countries that were not already part of the Russian Federation, would remain independent of the RF.

This week, some of the papers from that time were published. Khazakhstan in particular may be interested to know that in some of them, Putin and other fellow travellers made it abundantly clear that they saw it, as well as Ukraine, as a fake country that has the temerity to assert that it is independent of Russia.

Belarus is the exception - and that is only because Lukashenko has always accepted vassal statehood in return for Russia keeping him propped up as leader for life.

Some of the ‘stans are already starting to get openly frosty at Putin’s abusive relationship with them. Chinese backing is starting to look preferable to the continued stagnation in the service of Muscovy.

As more information surfaces about what the western Russian & Muscovite revanchists REALLY think about the vassal regions / states to the east, one does wonder how much longer Russia can count on their subservience. Khazakhstan is far from the only one that is seriously reconsidering its loyalties.

Apparently Dugin and Putin are trapped in their own reality if they imagined the Warsaw pact countries would come running joyfully home to momma Moscow. On the other hand there are American “America Firsters” who don’t seem to realize that many who held that view before WW2 and Japan’s bombing of Pearl Harbor, were in fact Hitler or German supporters or actual spies or agents. Now this same crowd views Putin and Russia as something to ignore, or even spy or troll for.

Meanwhile, as I said before, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are cooperating jn building a southern fuel pipeline between China and Europe. I think their future alliance with Turkey is more likely than with China.
