He’s pretty good. I listen to podcasts all the time, but rarely his. It’s just too long. Yesterday I saw the family friend last night who pointed Ryan out to me last Christmas and I’ve listened four or five times since then when he had a particular guest of interest. Today I’m listening to his interview of Hunter Biden of a week or two ago. Why don’t you start with that one and see if you like him
She is Larry King’s widow, AFAIK.

I don’t know a Shawn King. There is a Shaun King, though.

He does excellent interviews—allows his guests to speak their minds without fear of disruptive inappropriate interruptions.
Some guests are more interesting than others—depending on your particular interests.
The only part of his show that is ridiculous are the gummies (you will figure that out for yourself).

He isn’t Shawn King. I can tell you that.
He has some amazing episodes - especially early on where he interviewed fellow veterans of the GWOT. I highly recommend the interviews with DJ SHipley, Eddie Gallagher, and the interview with the guys who Obama put in jail over a shooting in Iraq, the so-called “Blackwater Massacre”.
I think he is a good guy, a little gullible, and over time has fallen into goofy conspiracy stuff like Aliens. But listen to the episodes where he has some expertise.

Red flag #2, he’s a CIA contractor.
Taking those two facts together, decide whether he is worth your time.

I don’t see him often on my internet feed. I do recall the first time I saw him. He was interviewing a former member of Canada’s JTF2. This member served in Afghanistan and a number of hot spots, worldwide. The member was kicked out of the CAF for refusing the Covid jab. He lost all benefits, including his pension, and FedGouvCan blacklisted him.
IIRC, I believe that before turning to yout.ube podcasting, Shawn Ryan was a Navy Seal and also worked as a CIA ‘spook’. His interviews seem pretty straightforward and he doesn’t try to ‘insert’ himself, or his ideas, into the interviews.
Shawn Ryan or Shawn King?
Larry King married his mother and adopted him.
He gets good guests but I feel he doesn’t do enough research to be a great interviewer. The Hunter Biden interview is a great example of being spoon fed and not asking tough follow up questions IMO.
I think another red flag for me is that he was a contractor with the Blackwater group.
There are many different interview styles out there.
I prefer Shawn’s style which allows guests to present their story without being challenged.
That is treating us like adults who can do our own homework to see if we agree with what the guest is saying.
I find Joe Rogan more irritating (as one example) because he becomes too much of the interview—when I deeply don’t care what Rogan thinks about anything—I want to know what the guest has to say.
The worst are the interviews that are debates and/or gotchas. Those are very irritating and imho totally worthless—no matter who the host is and no matter who the guest is.

Yup—as you can tell I find Hannity irritating—cannot stand listening to that guy. Talking over guests is a no go with me—regardless of who the guest is and regardless of the topic.
Almost any guest Shawn Ryan has—no matter how strange— will be more interesting than Hannity.
