A tow-truck driver in Florida is facing felony charges after being accused of towing a car that had a little girl inside.
The incident was caught on surveillance video.
The car’s owner told police he was inside a restaurant in Sunrise, Florida, for only two minutes before the tow truck came and took his car and he ran out of the business to try and stop the truck’s driver.
The car was in a fire zone where there were no parking signs, WPLG reported.
The video shows the owner of the car running to the tow truck driver, telling him to stop because his 4-year-old daughter was still in his vehicle.
A witness was heard saying, “His kid in there,” WTVJ reported.
The driver did not stop. Police said in their report that the child fell from the car. Police said she opened the car door, according to WPLG. Her father ran into traffic to save her.
The tow truck’s driver, Sergio Suarez, was arrested on charges of child neglect without great bodily harm.
“This one stood out to me; he towed a vehicle allegedly without checking whether or not there was anyone in the vehicle, and there was a child in the vehicle, who then had to jump out of the vehicle in the middle of the road,” Judge Corey Friedman said in court, according to WFOR.
Police called the towing company and requested that Suarez return the car to the scene.
“He dropped the vehicle away from officers and attempted to leave the scene again,” police said in their report, according to WPLG. They stopped him in the shopping plaza moments later.

Yes,that could be called child endangerment...maybe even kidnapping.
Two idiots.
The father for leaving a child in a car in a no parking fire zone.
The tow truck driver for knowingly taking a car with a child inside.
The guy was probably 3 months delinquent in his car payments - the tow truck driver had every right to get the car.
Well, he was parked in a fire zone, so yeah, he deserved to be towed. However, tow drivers have to check if there is anyone in the car BEFORE they tow it.
The fastest way to stop a vehicle from being towed away is to get in it.
The father should be charged as well for leaving a 4 year old in a running car parked in the fire lane. Clearly he was not paying 100% attention or the tow truck would not have been able to take the car before he could get out there.
Agreed, but the two truck driver was the bigger idiot in this case. Very possible he didn’t understand the English telling him there was a child inside the car. So there is that as well.
Why was the car's owner inside the restaurant and the kid left inside the car?
I wouldn't leave my kids in a car alone for two seconds.
Cite the father for parking in a fire lane.
Prosecute the tow truck driver for kidnapping.
Sergio Suarez..........
Who leaves their 4-year-old child in the car to go into a restaurant, even if only for two minutes?
He might have been in there longer if the tow truck appearing didn’t interrupt him!
It takes longer than two minutes to hook up a car to tow it.
Tow truck driver moved pretty darn fast -- spot the problem, maneuver the tow truck, connect the tow truck to the car, hoist the car, pull out into traffic, start driving away. Two minutes? Highly skilled.
Sounds like there’s plenty of blame to go around on this one.
Good guess, but apparently Florida tow truck drivers can tow vehicles in fire lanes out police approval...
The car’s owner told police he was inside a restaurant in Sunrise, Florida, for only two minutes“
BS.
A black friend of mine has a tow truck company he named it Brazilian Towing
