President Donald Trump said filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner died from "Trump derangement syndrome."
Reiner and his wife were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, and police are investigating the circumstances as an apparent homicide, authorities said.
"A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS."
Trump said Reiner suffered from paranoia.
"He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!" he added.
Reiner, 78, was a prominent Hollywood director and actor known for films including "When Harry Met Sally," "The Princess Bride," "Stand by Me," and "A Few Good Men."
He had been an outspoken critic of Trump for years, frequently posting political commentary on social media.
LAPD patrol officers dispatched to Reiner's home late Sunday afternoon discovered two bodies inside the residence. Emergency personnel had first responded to a call for medical aid, a city fire department official said.

I get the sense Trump is playing this into a “classic” Trump troll.
He says something seemingly outrageous.

Media reflexively flocks to this issue of his choosing, like rats seeing a pile of cheese.
Then over the next week, a flood of information Trump was privy too then gets released, deflecting all criticism, re-focusing the issue, and silencing critics.
Let’s see if that occurs here.
I'm not faulting Trump for what he said. After having his ear blown off, he can not be faulted for anything he says about those who engender hatred toward him. Nor would I presume to say what he should have said; Lord knows he's had plenty of success without my advice.
I do; however, get to opine on what I wish he'd said, as it could have, IMHO, helped reinforce public support for his efforts to point out the kind of damage the cartels are doing to the country and why unprecedented force should be used against them.

I think Trump was sort of making that point along with, I think, saying Reiner was way too focused on him, Trump, and not his family, son, who clearly had issues.

He did an interview with his son in 2015 about a movie they made. During the interview all is calm until interviewer asks about Trump and Hillary. He becomes so animated and passionate insulting Trump. Just goes on and on. Nothing excited him more than hating Trump. Sad.
I found this posting by the President to be offensive and completely unnecessary. It was also factually incorrect.
Rob Reiner died because he took a mentally ill and drug-addicted son back into his household. This rarely ever works out well for anyone, and homicides are sometimes the result.
President Trump had plenty of good reasons to dislike Rob Reiner and should have addressed them in a completely separate post. The appropriate response to this horrendous murder was an expression of sympathy to other family relatives (excepting the son, of course).
My observation is that VP Vance is a much better politician and if elected POTUS, will advance MAGA agenda better.

Trump already knows the vile hatred and lies Reiner had said for years about him PERSONALLY and about his voters..
Reiner had no qualms about making himself an enemy. He wallered in his Trump and MAGA hatred daily while he was alive, you don’t mourn your enemies no matter how they met their demise
Reiner had years of very hostile public statements against Trump and supported organizations with some very questionable actions to defame and obstruct the President.
All of which were grounds for Trump to criticize Reiner.
None of which were grounds for blaming Reiners' death on "Trump Defamation Syndrome". That is an unforced error that makes Trump look bad without achieving any gains for him.
I have a relative that is so nice. Just do not talk politics with her. She is a TDS raving loon like Reiner was.
It is like a dual personality thing. I try to stay away as much as possible from her because people like that are spooky to me.
Her parents were pretty normal, but her mother’s side would be where she picked up the behavior.
Obviously Reiner’s son was a drug addled monster.
No doubt Reiner had a serious case of TDS but it’s inappropriate for Trump to continue obsessing on this. Just not a good look.
