A US Army sniper has been taken into custody in connection with the Brown University mass shooting.
Erickson, originally from Wisconsin, was apprehended in connection with the Saturday shooting that left at least two dead and nine injured, according to the Washington Post.
He was taken into police custody early Sunday morning at the Hampton Inn in Coventry, around 15 miles from Brown University campus in Providence after federal authorities received a tip from local police and used 'geolocation' to locate him.
It was later revealed that Erickson was not a resident of Rhode Island or a student at the university, having driven 17 hours from Wisconsin to the state before the attack, law enforcement sources told CNN.
Erickson has not yet been charged or named as a suspect in the shooting.
According to NBC, authorities are looking into what might be an extensive mental health history for Erickson.
Prior to his apprehension on Sunday, authorities launched an urgent manhunt for a male suspect 'wearing all black' as he turned the corner on Waterman Street.
A LinkedIn profile for Erickson states that he served as an infantry soldier in the US Army, where he passed sniper training, had experience with different types of firearms and served as a rifleman from 2021 through 2024.
For his service, he received a good conduct medal, his LinkedIn page shows.
It also states that he participated in 'security duties' near the president and assisted with funeral ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery.
The LinkedIn page further notes that he was open to volunteering opportunities - listing a variety of causes from animal welfare, civil rights, gender equity, public safety and refugee and migrant support.

Apparently, he’s Jewish.
I don’t know if he is ethnically or through adoption Jewish.

...........
this means that he was a liberal nut job.
Not buying what the Dirty Mail is selling, I smell B.S.
That one we just sent to prison for killing those college students in Idaho? you know he is jewish too. Bryan Kohlberger.
They said he was 40.
Then he was 30.
Now he’s 24.
He was blonde in the first picture.
Now he has dark hair.
He was a cyber warfare specialist.
But, last I heard, he was really a sniper. Who seemed to work at cemeteries like Arlington. Huh?
Apparently, he was known to have extensive mental health problems.
Does the Army usually train crazy guys to be snipers? Is that typical?
He drove 17 hours from Wisconsin to do the shooting.
Except he lives in Washington DC which is a little closer.
I understand that immediate reporting after a tragic event can get messy and details can be confused. Mistakes happen. But this case just seems like the Masters are groping for a narrative that We The People will be willing to swallow. How did this guy find a classroom full of Jews? Why was he yelling in Arabic (or have they changed that little detail too?). I think the whole thing stinks.
Does he have a fury lover and a 30.06 stuck in his pants?
Any initial assessment of a news event is wrong or misinformation.
And yet the media is desperate to link him with MAGA and conservative causes. Guess this squashes that.
“Does he have a fury lover “
That is TBA
Person of interest ID’d in Brown University shooting that killed two, injured 9
...Erickson, who is originally from Wisconsin, has lived in an apartment in Washington, DC, since 2024, with his voter registry showing a “statehood” party affiliation, according to public records.
He served as an infantryman in the US Army from May 2021 to November 2024, leaving the military with the rank of specialist, an Army rep told The Post.
During his service, Erickson trained with the Caisson Detachment of the US Army’s 3rd US Infantry Regiment, a source told CNN. He was stationed at Arlington National Cemetery, where he assisted with funerals and participated in “security duties,” according to his since-deleted LinkedIn that was seen by the outlet.
Erickson was decorated with a good conduct medal and successfully completed sniper training, the station reported.
False. Bryan Kohberger is Catholic, not Jewish.
Grok:
“ No, Bryan Kohberger is not Jewish.
Reliable sources indicate he comes from a Christian family, likely Catholic background:
• He attended DeSales University, a Catholic-affiliated institution in Pennsylvania.
• While in jail, he participated in Christian services, including attending Mass and meeting with Christian pastors or ministers from organizations like Project Hope Idaho.
• His middle name is Christopher, a traditionally Christian name.
• His surname “Kohberger” is of Germanic/Austrian origin, not Jewish (despite occasional online confusion with similar-sounding names like “Kohen”).
Speculation about him being Jewish arose online shortly after his arrest in late 2022, often based on his surname or appearance, but multiple reports and discussions (including on platforms like Twitter and Reddit) explicitly debunk this, noting no evidence of Jewish heritage or identification. His family has been described in some accounts as Christian or practicing Catholics.
There is no credible evidence from news reports, court documents, or public records supporting any Jewish affiliation. Claims suggesting otherwise appear to stem from misinformation or bias rather than facts.”
But “X” said “He looks like MAGA.”
For a three year hitch in the Army he did a lot. Infantry. Sniper School. Worked at Arlington?
That seems like an awful lot of stuff in a 3 year period. Of course, I am probably wrong.
Sounds like a liberal...
Sounds like a liberal...
Apparently not the shooter.
The police just released him from custody.
The Mayor says Erickson had been released and can’t say if he’s still in Rhode Island.
No, he isn’t. Kohlberger is Lutheran.
Erickson is not typically a Jewish surname.
