Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson makes first public appearance since murder... and his mom bursts into tears at the sight of him
Daily Mail UK ^ | December 11, 2025 | Joe Hutchison

A Utah man accused of assassinating conservative superstar Charlie Kirk smirked as he made his first public appearance in court.

Tyler Robinson, 22, appeared inside a Utah courtroom flanked by his legal team as they pushed to further limit media access in the high-profile criminal case.

It was the first time Robinson was seen in person after making previous court appearances via video or audio feed from jail.

He was seen smiling as he engaged in deep conversation with his legal team before the hearing started.

As he entered the courtroom he smiled at the people sitting in a row reserved for family, where his mother teared up and wiped her eyes with a tissue.

Robinson's legal team and the Utah County Sheriff´s Office have asked Judge Tony Graf to ban cameras in the courtroom.

Shortly after proceedings started, Judge Graf ordered all press and public to leave the room. The defense asked the judge to allow Robinson's parents to stay, which was denied.

Graf has already made allowances to protect Robinson's presumption of innocence before a trial, agreeing that the case has drawn 'extraordinary' public attention.

Cameras in the courtroom are a recent innovation. Reporters (and spectators) in the courtroom aren’t. If there’s something that needs to be handled privately, the judge can take it to chambers or have a siderbar with the attorneys at the bench.

Juvenile proceedings are different - they are (in most states, at least) an adjudication of delinquency, not a criminal proceeding.

Consider me clueless, so what exactly going on?

I have no idea, just that clearing the courtroom unless the audience is being disruptive, is unusual.

Hopefully you're not pushing some conspiracy crap

In case you haven't noticed, a lot of old conspiracy theories are turning out to be true.

I've been here long enough to also know that most of the conspiracy theories that ran rampant on this site turned out to be bogus and an embarrassment to FR.....

You're not Michael Rivero, returned under another FR name are you?

One juror and he walks.

If I am not mistaken, that would make for a hung jury. He doesn’t necessarily get to walk.

That case against two men accused of planting (apparently fake) incendiary devices under media vehicles in the SLC area right after the Kirk assassination ... has been dismissed for the time being because the Utah court felt that the federal government had not supplied enough evidence to the Utah prosecutors to make the case tenable. It was dismissed without prejudice meaning it can be revived at a later date if a judge can be persuaded to reopen the prosecution.

I don’t know what might motivate anybody to plant fake incendiary devices anywhere, let alone under some TV station vehicles. Seems like a random coincidence having no real connection to the Kirk shooting or anything else really.

I would not be quick to condemn the parents in any way, they sent their son out into a society with a much different set of values upheld by most academic institutions and the peers their son would have met there, and you can only do so much before releasing your young adult offspring into the nasty world around us, I can think of several cases where exemplary parenting had little to no deterrent value once a kid got out there into the cesspool of modern society, and I can think of some fairly average parents whose kids excelled anyway. Then there is also a mental illness factor to consider and if not diagnosed during teenage years, no preparation for its onset would have taken place.

The parents certainly did one thing right, they didn’t name their kid James.

Do you have proof of that? I haven’t seem much at all about his family, except that they helped turn him in.

Sometimes kids go bad despite parents’ best efforts.

Wow. That is a lot to cover. I have no doubt that Candace is jealous of Erika and that she is trying to destroy TPUSA. Had no idea about her husband. From my limited knowledge Candace seems borderline evil in what she is doing. I’m suprised anyone listens to her.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t too familiar with her rantings or background until now. Heard some things she said recently. She seems very toxic.
