There must have been an inlet sea for it to get stranded on land.

Sounds a bit like Sahara (2005), starring Matthew McConaughey, Penélope Cruz, and Steve Zahn. It follows the story of Dirk Pitt, a master explorer who teams up with a WHO doctor to search for a lost Civil War ironclad battleship known as the “Ship of Death” that is rumored to be buried in the Sahara Desert of West Africa. The plot centers on a treasure hunt that turns into a dangerous adventure involving a deadly conspiracy, a disease outbreak, and a ruthless dictator.

At the link there is a picture of the buried wreck of a ship in the sand that has a smoke stack. I didn’t know that they had oil burning ships in the 16th-century.

Interesting coin. The facial features appear stereotypically Negro, but the hair does not.

I wonder if the picture at the link is AI generated. It certainly isn’t a photo of a 500 year old ship. Deckhouse is too far forward for a Liberty ship or a Victory ship, however.
