Baseball superstar Bryce Harper has a THIRD of his blood removed in wacky offseason procedure (is a health procedure)
UK Daily Mail ^ | 7 December 2025 | By BEN NAGLE

'My guy @drjoshredd is a magician. Had a great week of wellness starting with this awesome machine. More videos to come of other things as well.'

It is as yet unclear which 'other things' Harper is referring to, but the Phillies will certainly be hoping the medical procedures can boost the health of its $330million superstar, who is contracted through 2031 - by which time he'll be 39.

Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper has shocked fans by revealing that he has undergone a bizarre offseason procedure to remove a third of his blood from his body.

Fear not, though, baseball fans - it was returned soon after, but is just the latest cutting-edge medical treatment finding its way into the top level of sport.

Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old - seemingly in the hope of finding a way to elongate his career and improve his health - posted a photo of himself hooked up to machines, alongside his doctor.

'EBOO is a procedure in which 1/3 of your blood is drawn from your body, passed through a filtration and ozonation device, and then returned to your bloodstream,' he explained, in a now-viral post.

He then went on to explain all the benefits, revealing: 'Circulates your blood outside your body. Exposes the blood to ozone (O₃) and will oxygenate or filter the blood before returning it to you.

'This will: Improve circulation, Reduce inflammation, Fight infections, Support immune function, Remove toxins, Increase energy.

In my post above, I opined that it was silly, not that the main issue was whether it was or wasn’t his own blood, it was what kind of benefit would a baseball player derive from it.

People may not like a “pretty boy” like Tom Brady, but he was trying ways to extend his career with diet and exercise, and doing it in a sport where real physical contact for a 40+ year old athlete was a going concern.

But, for this baseball player...it is him and his money, and it isn’t illegal.

take away a third of your blood and you feel like crap. put it back and all of a sudden you feel better than when you didn’t have that third of your blood. IT WORKS.

Philadelphia is the perfect place for this bizarre idiot to play. Wonder if his physicans are the same guys who perform genital mutilations, prescribe puberty blockers, do abortions, and euthenize whoever they can. He would have no trouble finding accomadating members of the Josef Mengele Society in Philadelphia,

I have had a little experience with this...after my cat got a claw in me I spent 3 nights in the hospital getting antibiotic IV. Lots of different antibiotics. So, after release I sought a doc who could help clear/make sure I healed the antibiotic damage to my system. Ionization was it...although I only had @a pint removed and returned. There are many benefits to IVs...including preventing lyme disease after a tick is attached to your body for a week. You’ll have to ask my hub about that. Plus, why do you think Hillary is still walking? I contend she is getting blood “treatments”...God knows whose blood.

“I understand the supposed benefits of doing this, but...who in their right mind, with the blood bank situation being what it is, would do this?”

Not related to blood banks ...

It’s all his own blood, no donor blood. It’s just run thru a filtering / oxygenation system and immediately returned to his circulatory system.

Performance can be related to health in ways that are regardless of how much an athlete “stays in shape and trains”. Or even that “plus eats properly and well”.

If filtering the blood and oxygenating it gives a boost to how well the internal body systems are working, I can see it enhancing athletic performance as well - like with energy and stamina with internal systems that are performing better.

Exposes the blood to ozone (O₃) and will oxygenate or filter the blood before returning it to you.

That doesn't make much sense to me. Unless there's something wrong with you, you have lungs, kidneys, a liver, and other organs and systems to perform those tasks. I mean, if you're bored and need something to do for a few hours during the day, and you have lots of money, well . . . .

I'll have to read up on the suggested benefits of exposing blood directly to ozone.

If I were worth a few million I would get this blood cleaning done once a year. This cleans your blood by running one third of it through an ozone machine.

Harper has been a fine player for many years, but in 2015 and 2021 he truly was "elite" and won the Most Valuable Player award. After regressing this year, Harper is embarrassed that Dave Dombroski, his boss, called him out very publicly a month ago and questioned whether he'll ever be "elite" again.

Ol' Dave is simply goosing him to return to those heights. This is Harper's response: I'm leaving no stone unturned, making every effort, don't ever doubt me, I'm the man!

Yes, more primitive societies often have shorter life spans due to some major ailments that don’t get modern medical care. But they also have fewer of the modern chronic health conditions that plague many people for many years.

When you subtract infant deaths and childhood deaths, their life expectancy jumps by ten years. Cancer is mostly an old persons death. So if life expectancy is 40, then not many die from this in primitive societies. Same applies to the Middle Ages in Europe.

AI says>>>

Traditional foraging or early agricultural societies saw high burdens of infectious diseases, injuries, and malnutrition, rather than today’s dominant pattern of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer. This shift toward chronic, degenerative, and “man‑made” diseases in later stages of development is exactly what classic epidemiologic transition theory describes. So it is fair to say that many modern chronic diseases are less prominent in groups without long lifespans and industrial exposures, but people in those societies were not generally “healthier”; they just died earlier from different causes.

Blood letting is very healthy for us.

Yeah it really came in handy for George Washington.

I’ve been giving blood at the blood bank as often as I can for a long time. Part of the reason is for the benefit of others but I’ve also suspected that it does some good to the donor.

One wonders though whether there isn’t the potential for blood doping going on using this technique... isn’t blood doping all about increasing the number of oxygen‑carrying red blood cells so more oxygen can be delivered to working muscles? Does this not happen with the EBOO procedure?
