A grandfather and his 3-month-old granddaughter were found dead in their Tennessee home — apparently mauled to death by the family’s pack of pit bulls that were known to terrorize the neighborhood.
The lifeless body of James Alexander Smith, 50, was found inside the Tullahoma home Wednesday afternoon while the tiny tot was still being attacked by their 7 dogs, all of which police had to gun down to reach the bloodied victims, according to the 14th Judicial District Attorney General.
The infant had tragically died by the time cops fought their way to her.
Authorities are now investigating whether the pair were mauled to death or were already dead before the dog attack.
“This was an especially difficult and brutal scene,” Attorney General Craig Northcott said in the release...
Neighbor Brian Kirby — who said the same pack killed his beloved cat just a week earlier — came home from work to find the infant’s mom screaming in the middle of the street moments before police arrived.
When he offered help, the hysterical woman darted back into the devastated Warren Street home. Kirby admitted he’d witnessed the dogs attack other animals in the neighborhood — even his own pet — but never imagined they’d turn on people, FOX 8 reported.
“I don’t believe that they thought this would ever happen,” the neighbor told the outlet.
“I’m sure it was not done on purpose. I think that people just have animals, and they just need to put them on a leash better; that’s all. And I’m not blaming them for what happened at all. I know that they’re devastated more than we are because it’s their family,” he continued.

People are poor primarily because they make a bad life decisions and keep making them - get that tat, spend $50 or more a week on scratch off lotto tickets, take that expensive vacation on financed money, buy a new car instead of keeping the old one running, etc. and maybe they make bad life choices (and owning a pack of pit bulls seems to me to be a seriously bad life choice) because they’re stupid or maybe they feel entitled. Anyway poor and stupid seem to go together. And then there are the assholes who just have to have the nastiest dog because it makes people feel uncomfortable.

I will give you a clue. Until very recently in human history, women married men who were providers with few exceptions, very few socially, culturally, family acceptable exceptions
Women stayed home with their children.
Dumbing down is actually telling women it is fine to leave their children with strangers in a daycare at six weeks as is allowed for most maternity leaves

I seriously doubt it. He was my best friend’s husband and our families were together ALL the time. He was a true believer in protecting children. If there had been any funny business going on I would be shocked to my core.
He was a Catholic who believed that doing good deeds was the way to Heaven. He was so intent on helping the less fortunate that he pretty much ignored his own family. (I guess he didn’t see the irony that ignoring his family was not a good deed.)
I didn’t mean to imply anything other than that a grandfather is way out of practice taking care of an infant. If they’re alone with them it’s too much in most cases. They forget how dependent the infant is. That’s all. Again. My FIL was the best. He let the kids take risks out on the farm, climbing, riding around back of the truck taught them how to play Texas Hold-em
But infants need their mothers. Or a current expert. There are no grandfathers working in day cares. They’re just not suited for it.
Whereas they’re vital for when the kids get older and need to learn to manage risk taking, jumping, playing, running climbing things mom finds hard to watch
For anyone that owns a pit-bull. If your dog attacks anyone then I blame you. If your dog murders anyone then you should get the death penalty. The truth is plain to see.

Here’s the gist:
The grandfather was found holding a baseball bat. He was trying to protect the infant from the dogs.
The grandmother and “six other children” were not home at the time.
The family claims they tried repeatedly to get animal control or a shelter to take the dogs.
(I don’t know how they ended up with 7 Pit Bulls in the first place, but there’s the rest of the story.)

And in this particular case someone do not see that dogs as a threat and had no control over them.
Pit bull dogs are known to attack each other on sight..here we have 7 of them running together loose in a pack?that seems sort of strange’

At least one source identified the 50 year old man as the father. The dogs were known to be aggressive and should have been put down months ago.

It’s rednecks and ghetto dwellers that own multiple pit bulls. It’s a badge of toughness and machismo among those groups.
