CLINTON, North Carolina; DUFUR, Oregon––
"Pit bull rescuer and longtime Village Dental Clinic dental assistant Barbara Hunter Brewington, 38, of Bonnetville, North Carolina, on November 23, 2025 became simultaneously the 75th person killed by dogs in the U.S. during 2025, tying the record 2024 toll, and the 58th U.S. pit bull fatality, breaking the 2023 U.S. record for deaths by pit bull..."
" . . .As Kabir also mentioned, Brewington’s death was “the second fatal dog attack reported over five days in North Carolina,” following the unwitnessed November 18, 2025 pack attack death of Michael Bodenheimer outside his home in Thomasville..."...
" . . .Meanwhile in Ohio In Ohio, meanwhile, state law from 1987 until 2012 defined pit bulls as “inherently vicious,” therefore requiring pit bull owners to keep their pit bulls behind secure fences, muzzled in public, and insured against liability.
The Ohio law withstood several court challenges, but was undone by the combined efforts of Toledo Blade publisher John Robinson Block, the Best Friends Animal Society, the pit bull advocacy group Animal Farm Foundation, and then-Ohio County Dog Wardens Association president Mark Kumpf.
Since then, Ohio has experienced 25 dog attack fatalities, 21 of them by pit bull, and at least 1,700 disfiguring pit bull attacks..." ...

Interesting name choice.
Ugly azz dog with a bad reputation for a reason. A lot can blamed on the owners but the dog was bred for blood sports a reason.
A site I like to check from time to time is https://www.dogsbite.org. The people who own these dogs are delusional and that applies to a couple of my in-laws who are rescue advocates. Nuts.
Right!
I know the “Right to Keep and Bear Animals” is SOMEwhere in the Constitution, hiding there in the emanations and penumbrae of privacy which allowed SCOTUS cover for sanctioning preborn human sacrifice for fifty years.
At least this is how the a$$hats who continually protect and defend Pit Bull type dogs present it.
Though there are many who seem to think keeping wild, non-domesticated dangerois animals around people is just fine, even ones that get off-leash frequently terrorizing neighbors, killing livestock, etc. “Oh, they’s jess dogs.” I don’t see it that way and I shoot strays (dogs and especially cats) on sight on my farm, having been trapped on a roof once by a neighbor’s pit bull until the dog got bored and trotted off. It and several of its pack mates’ remains eventually disappeared into one of the hollers hereabouts.
I value human life more highly than others, i guess.

Maybe in your neck of the woods. In Baltimore and Richmond, almost all of the owners are ghetto thugs.
You’ve never been to Detroit, have you?
Thank you for your community service.
Cynaphobes circle jerk.
There’s this cultural thing folks in central Tennessee do which I’ve only ever seen on the occasional news item where a hidden camera catches someone abandoning their pet on a country road somewhere and driving off with the dog running after the car.
Those people should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Farther. I’d rather take THEM out than their pets, but once their once beloved little fur baby family pet has outlived their importance, they somehow think “farmers” will take care of any strays they find.
doesn’t work that way.
But I hate having to be “the grown up” and take care of other people’s problems before they become MY problem.
I’ve been eradicating feral cats like a mission from God for ten years and I’m FINALLY seeing squirrels, raccoons, opossum and other wildlife coming back. Coyotes help with this too, and neighbors help keep the coyote population down (so too, I think, do the large cats that are coming back).
You’re welcome.

she died doing what she loved
RIP.
I think I’ll stick with my Cairn Terrier.
Breaking up a dog fight, especially one with a pit bull is dangerous. Considering their purpose and reputation, they should not be in close contacts with other strange dogs . There are many people who own them with no problem. This was a strange dog in a dog fight. Feel sorry for this lady and her family. I personally wouldn’t own one. That goes for breeds like Presa Canarios, Dogo Argentinos, etc. You want a guard dog, get a German Shepherd or Dobermann. Dogs have been a close companion of ours for MILENNIA.
As for the child, BLAME THE PARENTS OR GUARDIANS.
My Golden Rule ... one pit bull ... one 9mm ... problem solved.
Wow, yet another mere coincidence from the “sweetest dogs” in America.
Appalachia is overrun with pits. A family down the street are professional fosters and they had a “drug guard” dog for a while. Thankfully it is gone. I think it left with the girl when she got booted when she turned 18.
Well don’t get a husky. Mouthy little smart asses they are.

You forgot African American drug dealer. Or dog fighter.
