Sen. Cory Booker has married his fiancé Alexis Lewis in Washington, DC, less than three months after announcing their engagement in an Instagram post.
Only close family were present as the New Jersey Senator, 56, tied the knot on Saturday in an interfaith ceremony blessed by both a pastor and a rabbi — Lewis is Jewish and Booker Christian, according to the New York Times.
The venue’s location wasn’t disclosed for privacy reasons.
On Monday, the pair legally wed at the US District Court in Newark, where Booker rose to prominence as mayor — with their parents as witnesses.
The couple celebrated afterward with Italian pastries and a vegan chocolate chip cookie dough cake to fit Booker’s vegan diet.
The pair were introduced in May 2024 by a mutual friend known for matchmaking, the Times reported.
Ms Lewis, 38, who was living in LA at the time, went on a blind date with Booker while visiting family in DC.

Truth be told, it’s more than likely just another business partnership like the clintons and obamas designed to make booker look normal.
So Booker’s bought a beard? He must be planning a run for a higher office.
I suppose 56 and 38 is an age gap, but at that age that’s not really all that crushing an age gap. It would seem more so if it were 18 and 36.
I’m surprised the newspaper presented it that way. And also the phrasing that it was just 3 months after announcing an engagement. How is that uncomfortable? A 3-month engagement is not bothersome at all. If it were one day, okay, that’s bothersome.
There is a lot wrong with being a gay politician; they are mentally encumbered and have to live with the affliction being against the laws of Nature.

Kind of looks like his daughter in the pictures, but a 28-year age difference can do that. Wish them the best. If they truly love each other good for them. Age shouldn’t be an impediment to love between adults.

In high school, a senior going out with a sophomore would raise eyebrows. But I have always felt that once a girl or boy reaches the age of full adulthood of 18-21, age differences shouldn’t mean anything to anyone else.
They are legally adults.
Well, beards are not unknown (Carole Crist, Arianna Huffington). The timing is right.
