Lizzo believes we, as a society, must “undo the effects of the Ozempic boom” because plus-sized women are being “erased.”
The musician, 37, took to Substack on Sunday to share an essay titled, “Why is everybody losing weight and what do we do? Sincerely, a person who’s lost weight.”
Lizzo, who began shedding pounds in the fall of 2023 following a very public harassment and hostile work environment scandal, confessed that the ordeal made her “deeply suicidal.”

“We’re in an era where the bigger girls are getting smaller because they’re tired of being judged. And now those bigger girls are being judged for getting smaller by the very community they used to empower,” she argued.
“There’s nothing wrong with living in a bigger body. There’s nothing wrong with being fat. But if a woman wants to change, she should be allowed to change.”
According to Lizzo, “extended sizes are being magically erased from websites,” “plus sized models are no longer getting booked for modeling gigs” and “all of our big girls are not-so big anymore.”

Thin (or at least “not fat”) is promptly going to be like straight white teeth is now a minimal standard of class.
Only truly poor/crazy/low class people will be fat. Just like they are the only ones with visibly poor oral hygiene.
It’s always been that upper classes were more fit in general (“can’t be too rich or too thin”), but now it will be mandatory.
People can complain but it’s true.
Men will be slower to adopt, but it’s coming.
Damn near all well-off men are already doing testosterone and look exceptionally buff in their 60s, too.
Go to a country club or a shopping center with the high end designer labels.
Weight suddenly skews down 40%.
I agree, go to Walmart, full of land whales with their EBT cards.
Thank you for that fascinating article.
“Thank you for that fascinating article.”
And it’s not a fad or hoax. Very scientific. The good news: Potato salad and pasta salad.
Also good is that once the food has been refrigerated or frozen, you can re-heat and the benefit remains. I think I read that it works with bread, too.
Ham sandwich.
Getting rid of fat reduces blood pressure 9 pts for every 20 pounds, helps your joints and back, and so much more than I mentioned in my post.
Lizzo isn't complaining about not seeing people eating fat.
“Lizzo blasts ‘Ozempic boom’ after drastic weight loss: Plus-sized women are being ‘erased’”
Well... you ain’t gotta stay morbidly obese, there are choices some better than others, some slower than others, some healthier but slower. As you age it gets harder. At least there are choices.
No, that was the story her band mates put out. She over dosed.
In addition to the once-a-week injection, Ozempic now comes in a pill form, a once-a-day pill, called Rybelsus. Insurance is much more likely to cover it, for those diagnosed as diabetic or pre-diabetic.
That’s what I thought but its good to make the distinction.
After.
She is still plus sized, so nothing has been erased. She’s just a much healthier plus size than she was before.
simpson96,
One of the problems that surfaced later with prescribing Ozempic is that it comes in a few different strengths. When they start people on it they usually deal with the less potent amounts. Problem is that the pharmacies usually stock the lower amounts in les strengths. It would seem intelligent that a person who needs the stronger dose could just get more of the little ones.
But the cost ratio to cover that and how much it encompasses to fill the larger amounts costs the pharmacies more to fill the order and they lose profits. And of course that goes up the lines to the makers so the cost for the lower consistencies goes up thus along with the price.
Being military medicine those pharmacies have a lot of say in what they will stock and if the product is not for world wide members they don’t stock it very much, if at all. So a retiree like myself is forced to go outside to get drugs that I earned to already get and the bill comes out of my pocket when I can find it at high dose, seldom, or low dose the outside pharmacy will fill which they like to do as they pass the bill on to me. And going through Medicare is difficult at best as I still cover a percentage while I am paying Medicare. So you see my problem, I hope. And I am not alone in this as thousands are involved with the same problem.

Research indicates it can decrease the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death from cardiovascular events in individuals with obesity and cardiovascular disease, even in those without diabetes. While these benefits are promising, it may have side effects and is not a replacement for other heart failure treatments.
I’m glad it is helping you. But beware. Semaglutide drugs can cause such things as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, and burping are frequent. More serious effects are Pancreatitis, inflammation of the pancreas, acute gallbladder disease, acute kidney injury, blurred vision, and hypoglycemia. More severe allergic reactions can include swelling or difficulty breathing, require immediate medical attention. Anaphylaxis can cause death and it sneaks up on you especially with congestive heart disease.
You probably have discussed these problems with your doc, so good luck with your use.

Yet she is still breathing?
"You'll be bleepin' fat girls in no time!"
