Cracker Barrel's embattled CEO has complained that she was 'fired by America' in a recent interview.
Julie Felss Masino, the restaurant's president and chief executive officer, was saved by investors last week after 75 percent of shares were cast in her favor.
The vote came after Masino's controversial efforts to give the brand a 'woke' revamp.

In an interview with The Blaze's Glenn Beck, Masino discussed her leadership role.
'This is probably very unfair to ask you. Were you surprised you weren't fired?' Beck asked.
'Um, I feel like I've been fired by America,' Masino said with a laugh.
'That's probably worse,' Beck responded.
Speaking alongside senior vice president of store operations Doug Hisel on The Glenn Beck Podcast, Masino said she never intended to redesign the entire restaurant.

'I think a lot of people think that Doug and me and other people sit around, are like, "Let's remodel Cracker Barrel." Nothing could be further from the truth,' Masino said.
'The notion for some of that truly came out of a lot of the work that we were doing on how do we improve food and experience. When we were talking to our guests, they said, "Stores could be a little bit more comfortable. They're real dark. I can't read the menu."'
Masino confessed that she and her team may have missed the mark with their efforts to rebrand.
'We're sorry that that's what people feel,' Masino said.
'That was not the intent. It was not the intent. It hurts me, because I don't want people to be...'

I don’t disagree and will not argue that you are wrong.
However, she is but the most recent CEO to come on board to reverse the Cracker Barrel decline. In spite of a truly great past, the model is no longer working. The chain is declining, perhaps even failing.
What was is demonstrated to be inadequate for the present. Perhaps and probably, a new CEO will be tasked with creating a resurrection plan
I am a Cracker Barrel fan and am keenly aware of the discontinuity of excellence over time and location. I travel and eat there often
She’s sorry for us?
She looks like a democrat.
You can’t fix stupid.
I won’t eat at the again again restof rant again
Every Cracker Barrel I’ve passed up and down I-95 and I-75 has a full parking lot, restaurant and store. Not sure how failing it is/was or all its customers are dead yet.
‘We’re sorry that that’s what people feel,’ Masino said.
LOL. Guess what happens when her husband tries that “I’m sorry that’s how you feel” on her at home?
So “fired by America” means nothing now. Thanks for the heads up.
This is like some organization suspending some arsehole for celebrating Kirk’s murder — and then re-instating the arsehole when the Americans lose interest.
I liked Kenny Rogers Roasters too. It was consistently good There were not many fast food restaurants where you could go and have a somewhat healthy meal.
They were all indoctrinated by commie, lib, and lesbian professors in college.
This illustrates the problem with modern ‘financing’. Companies have to appease their creditors before their companies or customers.
It’s bigotry and cultural repression by people who do not identify with you, your culture or your civilization.
I was a regular customer of Gillette, but I haven’t used a Gillette product since 2019, when they ran that “toxic male” ad.
“Sweet Tomatoes / Souplantation 2020 (all 97 locations) Ultimate unlimited salad-bar buffet chain; self-serve model already felt dated pre-COVID, then became impossible during the pandemic. Liquidated, never reopened.”
They were very good n fresh salads. Always had chicken noodle soup with lots chicken in it. So i got my protein fill that way. The were stressing out pre-C19 panic, and used C19 as an excuse to close, I assume under optimum favorable terms.
They should have waited 14 months when most places were re-opening. There was all kinds of FedGuv loans n forgiven loans to tide them over to survive. And pay their employees whom I saw for years there.
They all are on the ladies left. A few of the pajamas boys are as well. Look around. Crockett and her entire staff, all 8n the same lefty look goggles.
Right. Going more for the “Mayim Bialik Jeopardy Hostess” angle, perhaps.
a LOT of WOMEN these days have NO COMMON SENSE and make TERRIBLE executives!!
Families on long-haul drives are looking for a familiar place to stop and relax; they want a restaurant that they know, with a menu that they know the kids will eat, and has clean restroom facilities and a safe environment with plenty of distractions for their tired or restless children.
I remember as a child eating at a Howard Johnson's and they gave us crayons and placemats with connect-the-dot drawings and puzzle mazes to keep us occupied while we waited for our food. Cracker Barrel has little peg puzzles and tic-tac-toe and checker boards at the restaurant to keep the tired and cranky kids entertained. The country store is a place for kids to explore and maybe get a toy to play with at the table and in the car.

“The original customer base is aged or dead”
Can’t say I’m in the original customer base but I’m not far from it. My personal experience is that dining out has gotten a lot more expensive and hardly worth the effort to get presentable enough to go out in public. Although the level of “presentable” appears to be far lower these days. Can’t stand the thought of leaving the house in sweat pants or, even worse, pajama pants. A lot of restaurants died during the pandemic and us older folks figured out we can feed ourselves without dealing with the crowds.
Who IS that????
She's not gone. The vast majority, 75%, of the shareholders (mostly equity funds) voted to keep her on as the C.E.O.. The woke destruction of Cracker Barrel continues.
