Cracker Barrel's embattled CEO has complained that she was 'fired by America' in a recent interview.
Julie Felss Masino, the restaurant's president and chief executive officer, was saved by investors last week after 75 percent of shares were cast in her favor.
The vote came after Masino's controversial efforts to give the brand a 'woke' revamp.

In an interview with The Blaze's Glenn Beck, Masino discussed her leadership role.
'This is probably very unfair to ask you. Were you surprised you weren't fired?' Beck asked.
'Um, I feel like I've been fired by America,' Masino said with a laugh.
'That's probably worse,' Beck responded.
Speaking alongside senior vice president of store operations Doug Hisel on The Glenn Beck Podcast, Masino said she never intended to redesign the entire restaurant.

'I think a lot of people think that Doug and me and other people sit around, are like, "Let's remodel Cracker Barrel." Nothing could be further from the truth,' Masino said.
'The notion for some of that truly came out of a lot of the work that we were doing on how do we improve food and experience. When we were talking to our guests, they said, "Stores could be a little bit more comfortable. They're real dark. I can't read the menu."'
Masino confessed that she and her team may have missed the mark with their efforts to rebrand.
'We're sorry that that's what people feel,' Masino said.
'That was not the intent. It was not the intent. It hurts me, because I don't want people to be...'

We had White Castle when we lived in Missouri (HS and college for me) mid 60s to 73. They were the butt of awful jokes about their quality, even then!
“It is business, not political Ideology”
Bingo. Nothing at all to do with politics. That is way blown out of proportion. It’s a struggling restaurant business that is old, gone stale, customer base is aging-out and they are trying to arrest the slide.
Yum! I can still taste those.
We had a Dairy Queen open near us in Hayden, Idaho a couple years ago. That’s another one that I figured was past its prime.
Red Lobster is on a long downhill slide. There’s one in Coeur d’Alene, ID. I stopped in a year ago and was so turned off by everything that I got up and left before ordering. It was a gross 1970s Naugahyde vibe. Talk about a place needing a refresh!
And this explains a lot...

Maybe the food just sucks.
We had a “Fresh Choice” place near us that specialized in salads. I thought it was really good. But that failed.
Restaurants must be the hardest of all industries! Huge competition, fickle customers, changing tastes and trends, lots of external forces you can’t control, horrible labor market with high turnover.
If she and Heinerscheid (Bud Light) get cracking now, there’s a good chance they could become marketing professors, before the woke/DEI bubble collapses entirely.
We Lost our Outback Steak House ...
.
Oh Well-
“Still has his Adam’s apple, dude.”
yeah, very noticeable ...
Cracker Barrel still donates to socialist causes.
This CEO needs to go work for a WOKE crusade.
From her picture she’s Ugly, from her press she’s stupid and from her statements she’s woke.......That’s NOT a good way to go through life.
It really doesn’t actually but some are better than others
Young people may not like country cooking admittedly
They tend to fetishize food they don’t really know
Very few cook
Ah, so she admits it was woke!
And the problem is...?
You found a great article. I see 114 posts so far. She has a truly unshakeable self-image.
When you try to fix things that aren’t broke it goes bad fast.
(Uncle Ben’s Rice, Aunt Jemima’s Syrup, Land O’Lakes butter.)
3 favorites of mine; for decades
Especially Uncle Ben’s Rice
I have bought NONE of those since the rebranding
I refuse to participate
It’s destroying the country
Either way
Yikes - that neck
Dollars to doughnuts BlackRock owns that 75% of shares.
