I just don't eat a lot of sweets...except for binges...like pumpkin pie...or cheesecake....or root beer sodas.

I buy a pound of bacon...cut in half and freeze a few slices together. Butter sits on the counter...at the ready...

My main concern was why do we need to import bread and butter pickles.

Because the labor costs + taxes + health care requirements for employees are too expensive in the US.

It is cheaper to grow the cucumbers, harvest, process, can and ship them in India to the US than to produce them in the US.

Until we start paying REAL wages (aka whatever the lowest rate someone, anywhere will do the job for) we're not going to compete in the labor market worldwide.

The real wage for this work might be $0.50/hr, but here in the US we have artificial limits and requirements that make us not able to compete.

https://www.ams.usda.gov/selling-food/product-specs

note what the food specs address and don’t address. The don’t list is very important. contanimants are mostly missing from this list.

https://www.ams.usda.gov/sites/default/files/media/WheatStandards.pdf

here is wheat standard.

You cannot have perfect food. The mice are going to run over the pile and eat some of it. But the good news is animals don’t usually excrement near their food source.

LOL, I have never eaten cheesecake OR pumpkin pie! One sounds weird, the other looks weird. I don’t do weird.

I will admit to partaking of root beer in my naughty teens, in spite of its creepy name.

I’m in PA. Oh, they have plenty of cheesecake and pumpkin pie around here, I’m just kinda picky. Plain food is a family tradition in our clan. No ketchup, no mayo. And we’re not even Amish. :D
If you reach the age of 12 or so, and never tasted guacamole or chow mein, you probably never will.

You should see how they made those blue masks people wore during Covid.

Am I the only one here who has no idea what you mean? How did they make masks?

Did you actually read that site?

It says Danish style, not made in Denmark.

They have not made those cookies in Denmark for over 25 years.

These cookies from Denmark are absolutely not the ones sold normally here in the states. I have bought multiples of these tins every year for nearly 30 years. I always check the origin because I dont allow Chinese or Mexican produced food into the house. Not once have I found any actually made in Denmark.

“Anybody over 40 or so, shouldn’t be eating cookies, period.”

I miss my Grandmother’s Christmas cookies! 😭😭 She made the best. Her sugar cookies and a gallon of milk. No one but no one made them like Grandma.

Sounds like to me you really~really~really have to look closely these days because some people thought those were “Royal Dansk” cookies when they were knock off from India and made by someone’s feet.

The tin the cookies came in most have been very identical Because I could have swore the tin the guy in this video held up said “Royal Dansk” but on the back did not say Made in Denmark but Made in India. Same for all the videos he played.
