A shooting at a Christmas tree lighting event in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday left four people wounded, according to police.
Concord Police said three victims were listed in critical condition and one was in stable condition. All four victims were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
The shooting happened at the city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Union Street S near the intersection with Corban Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Police, Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS personnel were already at the event and responded immediately with medical aid and evacuation efforts.
The remainder of the event was canceled after the shooting.
The city said visitors should leave the area and drivers should seek alternate routes.

Anytime there is a large group of a certain ethnicity in the same place at the same time there is the distinct this kind of thing will happen.
And they couldn’t care less where it is either.
40 years ago I interviewed for the music director position at a Presbyterian church in Concord NC, back when being a Presbyterian meant you were a Christian. I didn’t get the position, ended up in Polk County FL, the home of Grady Judd, where I have been since. I would be afraid both of finding out if the Concord church were still Christian, and of being a resident of Concord.
The worst thing?
My taxes pay for their hospital costs.

It is scary to imagine what a New Year’s Eve celebration will be like in that town.
We live in a country now where you can shoot up people in the evening and be back on the streets by dawn with little legal consequence.
Hey chajin, I went to college at Davidson and half the music department (so it seemed) moon-lit at that very church. I had a minor in theology because I enjoyed the topic, but even in the 70s your faith wouldn’t be nurtured there.
