Thomas Massie a Little ‘Suspicious’ of Trump Reversal on Epstein Files
Newsweek ^ | 11/17/2025 | Anna Commander

Posted on 11/18/2025 1:22:03 PM PST by Republican Wildcat

Republican U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky said he is a "little bit suspicious" of President Donald Trump after his reversal in stance on releasing files connected to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

...

"Well, he got tired of us winning," Massie responded. "He decided to join us. Look, they could have done this four months ago, and instead they fought us every bit of the way. Now they want to be on our side, we'll accept their support, but we're, you know, a little bit suspicious of this sudden turn of events."

Massie continued, "So, we'll keep an eye on things. We're worried that maybe they'll try to muck it up in the Senate. But I do think we're going to get a straight up or down vote tomorrow on the language that [Democratic U.S. Representative] Ro Khanna and I introduced. And I think it's going to be a very big vote, I think we'll get at least a veto-proof majority."

The house GOP doesn’t want to win in 2026, they want to sabotage the race like they did in 2018 so they can get off the hook and let the dems do the work of blocking Trump. Transparent. Watch a few safe GOP seats retire unexpectedly right before the election. Again.

It took a lot to break the logjam but I’m glad Congressman Massie and MTG and others like Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace made this possible.

Let the chips fall where they may but I expect relentless and determined resistance from high places to the full details coming out.

This afternoon MTG spoke of around 1000 girls being trafficked by the late Jeffrey Epstein that’s around one thousand....

He got tired of all the distracting BS. If Massie wants to think that’s a “win”, fine.

The question is, if President Trump was set on releasing the files, why as recently as a few days ago was he attacking MTG and Massie for asking the same?

My theory is that Trump nixed the release of the files because the ‘rats are always contrary to him. He was correct. Now he sez to release them, and the ‘rats are trying to reverse themselves again. He’s playing them like a tin kazzooo!

WIKI

The U.S. Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 (Public Law 80-402), popularly called the Smith–Mundt Act, was first introduced by Congressman Karl E. Mundt (R-SD) in January 1945 in the 79th Congress. It was subsequently passed by the 80th Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on January 27, 1948.

The Act was developed to regulate broadcasting of programs for foreign audiences produced under the guidance of the State Department, and it prohibited domestic dissemination of materials produced by such programs as one of its provisions. The original version of the Act was amended by the Smith–Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 under Barack Obama which allowed for materials produced by the State Department and the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) to be made available within the United States.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/5302/text?s=1&r=5

WIKI

The Mexico City policy, sometimes referred to by its critics as the global gag rule, is a United States government policy blocking U.S. federal funding for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing abortion counseling or referrals, advocating to decriminalize abortion, or expanding abortion services. When in effect, the Mexico City policy is a U.S. government policy that requires foreign non-governmental organizations to certify that they will not “perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning” with non-U.S. funds as a condition for receiving U.S. global family planning assistance, and during its January 23, 2017 implementation any other U.S. global health assistance, including U.S. global HIV (under PEPFAR) and maternal and child health (MCH) assistance.

The Mexico City policy was first implemented on January 20, 1985, by the second Reagan administration. Since that time, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has enforced the policy during all subsequent Republican administrations and has rescinded the policy at the direction of all Democratic administrations. After its initial implementation by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1985, the policy was rescinded in 1993 by Democratic President Bill Clinton, reinstated in 2001 by Republican President George W. Bush, rescinded in 2009 by Democratic President Barack Obama, reinstated in 2017 by Republican President Donald Trump, rescinded in 2021 by Democratic President Joe Biden, and reinstated in 2025 by Trump again.

I would actually be happy if they would put this much effort into accomplishing something for the American people. They cower in fear of taking on rogue judges, holding the real corrupt in Washington accountable, hell, they couldn’t even hold Merrick Garland accountable and he jailed Trump advisors for the same thing he did. This is being touted as a major political win, but it is nothing but a distraction so they have an excuse to ignore the real problems.
