Conservatives on social media erupted over a clip showing a top education official in Michigan struggling to answer a question from a Republican lawmaker on how many genders exist.
In the viral clip, resurfaced on X by conservative influencer LibsofTikTok on Sunday and seen over 2 million times, Michigan Chief Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sue Carnell is asked in an Oct. 28 hearing by Republican state Rep. Jay DeBoyer about her opinion on how many genders exist.
"How many genders are there," DeBoyer asked, prompting Carnell to smile and pause without answering. "How many genders are there?" DeBoyer asked again.
"Different people have different beliefs on that," Carnell responded.
The clip quickly went viral on social media and resulted in conservatives lambasting Carnell for not directly answering and instead explaining the importance of inclusivity.
Former Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon reacted in a statement to Fox News Digital saying, "Democrats want to sexualize every facet of the curriculum and the MBOE is imposing its radical ideology on all Michigan K-12 schools."
"3/4 Michigan kids can’t read at grade level," GOP Michigan state Sen. Aric Nesbitt posted on X. "When you realize these are the people in charge of education in Michigan, that number starts to make a lot more sense."

The point is that sex is biological but gender is a construct of language. When sex is meant, let’s say sex. Gender should only be used when talking about language. Many languages recognize 3 genders. (In English, “it” is the vestigial neuter pronoun.) But I don’t know of any that recognize more than three.

I always thought that even the use of the word “gender” is deceiving. The question used to be “what sex are you”? Use of the word “gender” opened the door for these modern liberal constructs where you can have more than two sexes.

The education system has been gayified to the point of discriminating against sanity. Does anybody
believe a person holding 2 gender belief would have passed the initial interview for any of her titles?

“Gender” refers to words. Not people. Romance languages mostly. English has some examples. Ships are referred to as “she” or “her”. Or we’ll name our good ole pickup truck “Bessie” or that kind of thing.
It’s important not to use their terminology or buy into their false premises to begin with. Sex is the correct word here. “How many sexes are there?” There are two (2) sexes. Boys have a penis. Girls have a vagina. We’re well into Lysenkoist bull!&it in the West now, don’t play their silly games.
Democrats might believe in science, but they sure don’t believe in spelling!

Your education failed you. They probably didn’t teach high school Latin but they should have taught Junior High English.
To me the most idiotic aspect of Carnell’s response was......
her vain attempt to flaunt what she considers her “knowledgeable self”....
Her being “so well-informed” turned into a complete fiasco.

We really messed up when we stopped committing the insane for treatment in mental hospitals! Now we have nuts who should be receiving shock treatments running our children’s school. Either we put and end to thus insanity or our goose is cooked!

It is. When you use the article "das" before the German word for window, "Fenster," it is considered a neuter word.
This is completely arbitrary in many languages, of course, and has nothing to do with sex.
