Conservatives on social media erupted over a clip showing a top education official in Michigan struggling to answer a question from a Republican lawmaker on how many genders exist.
In the viral clip, resurfaced on X by conservative influencer LibsofTikTok on Sunday and seen over 2 million times, Michigan Chief Deputy Superintendent Dr. Sue Carnell is asked in an Oct. 28 hearing by Republican state Rep. Jay DeBoyer about her opinion on how many genders exist.
"How many genders are there," DeBoyer asked, prompting Carnell to smile and pause without answering. "How many genders are there?" DeBoyer asked again.
"Different people have different beliefs on that," Carnell responded.
The clip quickly went viral on social media and resulted in conservatives lambasting Carnell for not directly answering and instead explaining the importance of inclusivity.
Former Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon reacted in a statement to Fox News Digital saying, "Democrats want to sexualize every facet of the curriculum and the MBOE is imposing its radical ideology on all Michigan K-12 schools."
"3/4 Michigan kids can’t read at grade level," GOP Michigan state Sen. Aric Nesbitt posted on X. "When you realize these are the people in charge of education in Michigan, that number starts to make a lot more sense."

Long-time Educator Dr. Sue C. Carnell to Serve as Interim State Superintendent
LANSING – Dr. Sue C. Carnell will serve as interim state superintendent, State Board of Education President Dr. Pamela Pugh announced today.
Dr. Carnell, chief deputy superintendent for the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) since 2021, will assume the interim role upon the retirement of Dr. Michael F. Rice from the state superintendency on Oct. 3.
She will become the first Black woman to be state superintendent in Michigan.
The board last month selected Dr. Glenn Maleyko to be the next state superintendent. The board president is negotiating a contract with Dr. Maleyko, who is superintendent of Dearborn Public Schools. His start date has not been finalized.
Dr. Carnell has 40 years of experience in education and government. She was superintendent of Westwood Community School District, deputy superintendent of Detroit Public Schools, and assistant director of special education and principal in Southgate Community School District. At MDE, she was former chief of staff for Dr. Rice and director of the former Office of School Excellence and the former Office of Community Services.
She also served as education policy advisor for former Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm and worked as group executive for former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
“Dr. Carnell is just the right person to head MDE as we transition to a new state superintendent,” Dr. Pugh said. “Her experience in education and state government is invaluable and means we will not miss a beat as we continue to advance Michigan’s Top 10 Strategic Education Plan and make continued improvements to public education.”
There are three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter.

The woke and radical left in Michigan are doing so much damage that the majority of its residents are effectively blind to it because the Democrats in Lansing and elsewhere in the State operate in a shady and covertly stealthy manner. They are not “in your face” with it like they are in CA and CO, but don’t let the smooth taste fool you because they’re not the harmless moderates they appear to be. Is it just me, or does it seem like Gov. Whitmer, AG Nessel, SoS Benson (and she’s running for Governor!), have been keeping such a low profile that their silence is also deafening? The State of Michigan has become a testbed for this innovative strategy, the success of which depends heavily upon opacity while having the mere appearance of adequate transparency. It’s what they do, and they have new ways to do it if they think nobody’s looking.

I am not shocked by her rise in the position. The education system has been gayified to the point of discriminating against sanity. Does anybody believe a person holding 2 gender belief would have passed the initial interview for any of her titles?
You can bet she causes many “different people” to think I.Q.s only go up to single digits. She’s a clown.
