As Trump Defends Foreign Workers, His Company Sought Record Number In 2025
Forbes ^ | November 12, 2025 | Zach Everson

The Trump Organization sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, two golf clubs and a Virginia winery through H-2A and H-2B visas, according to data from the Department of Labor.

The company’s visa requests have risen steadily in recent years, from 121 in 2021 to a record 184 in 2025.

During Trump’s five years in office, the Trump Organization filed to bring in at least 566 foreign workers.

The jobs—primarily servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers—pay between $15.58 and $27.91 an hour, per Department of Labor listings.

Spokespeople for the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to inquiries, while the White House would not comment.

Big Number

2,033: The total number of foreign workers the Trump Organization has sought to hire since 2008, the earliest year for which data is posted on the Labor Department’s website.

News Peg

Trump said Tuesday on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” that H-1B visas—which, unlike those his businesses use, target highly skilled workers in specialized fields such as engineering, accounting and the arts—were necessary to bring workers with “certain talents” to the United States. In September, Trump imposed a $100,000 payment on many H-1B visa petitions.

Crucial Quote

“If you want to raise wages for American workers, you can’t flood the country with tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of foreign workers,” host Laura Ingraham said during the interview.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

My son sent me this link. I don't get it. An argument can be made about how we need highly-trained tech workers (I'm not saying we do, but at least there's a case to be made.)

But THESE jobs? Why?

It’s not about highly trained but lowly paid.

Why wouldn’t they? Being a housekeeper and maid aren’t exactly positions that Gen Z does even for 20 dollars an hour

Isn’t that the same as every other low-paying job that legal and illegal immigrants are taking from American workers?

If you got rid of these usurpers, wages for even housekeepers and maids would go up, right?

For one thing this is legally employing people, not hiring through illegal intermediaries (”contractors” etc. whom anyone in business knows is... the mob, or the cartels, or better yet the demonrat party apparat).

Now, do Nantzi Pelosi’s tuna canning companies, and her winery. Trump Organization vs. ANY number of corporations- can be found well outside the headline seeking BS of these selective “data” mavens. It is NOT a “record” number for a small organization like hospitality vs. quite available numbers for, say large agricultural operations/farming/harvesting, or housekeeping for Disney Corporation (worldwide and in the US).

Do some research, and this page is enlightening, including info on how to become a US civil surgeon (foreign physicians/surgeons)— which large hospital corporations employ using H2-A and the Civil Surgeon process (to included ECFMG exams):

184...big whoop...these are seasonal jobs.

My daughter has a place in Massachusetts. All the workers are seasonal.

Not every American wants to wait on tables or clean hotel rooms.

Trump doesn’t run his businesses anymore though obviously this is a bad look regardless. Even if they are crummy seasonal work we have teens who could do it.

Trump is not stupid. He knows how to increase profits and make his companies stronger. He must have lots of experience with foreign workers. He likes them because they work harder and cheaper.

BTW, this is NOT the original “Forbes” company that put out Forbes magazine and was owned by Malcolm Forbes and his family. The Forbes corporation name and rights were sold off to a website creation company, with usually Leftist bent in their “coverage”. In the days of Malcolm Forbes when he flew to his various business operations on a Boeing Trijet 727 named “The Capitalist Tool” Forbes was a really good business oriented magazine. The family finally sold out their interest in Forbes in 2006 and again in 2014. So— it’s really not “Forbes” at all.

“During Trump’s five years in office, the Trump Organization filed to bring in at least 566 foreign workers.”

It’s a small number granted but if this is even true — why would the Trump Organization do this?

I can try and put a positive spin on it by saying — this article if true proves that Donald Trump is hands off in running his Corporation.

If there were zero foreign workers then the MSM would be trying to claiming that is evidence Trump is still pulling the strings by making sure foreign workers were not working there.

attitude and work ethic combined with an opportunity for european nationals to experience the US legally

how many young rich-daddy Palm Beach residents are willing to live quitely on site for 4 months to make beds, clean toilets, mop floors, clear plates or work turning dirt? By employing europeans, Trump can’t be trapped into hiring illegals.

Surely you’ve noticed that for decades in FL massive numbers of Russians come work in the FL hotels and motels. Certainly not a Trump phenomenon

Sheep herders are often brought in on work visas; it’s a skill that is not easily found these days.

House-keeping and general labor, on the other hand, can be staffed by local hires. Trump needs to set a good example here.
