Scientists baffled as interstellar visitor mysteriously SHRINKS ahead of Earth flyby [3I/ATLAS]
Daily Mail ^ | 7 November 2025 | By CHRIS MELORE, US ASSISTANT SCIENCE EDITOR

Posted on 11/07/2025 10:26:40 AM PST by Ezekiel

Shocking new images of the interstellar visitor have revealed that it has mysteriously shrunk in size weeks ahead of its closest approach to Earth.

NASA recently calculated the change, noting it shed 13 percent of its material after 3I/ATLAS soaring past the sun last month.

Harvard Professor Avi Loeb, who has been analyzing the object since the summer, noted that this sudden shrinkage was directly tied to the noticeable change in the interstellar object's course as it moved closer to the sun.

'For a typical comet, this should have resulted in a massive coma with dust and gas that would have been pushed by the solar radiation pressure and the solar wind to the shape of a typical cometary tail pointing away from the sun,' he said in a blog post.

'No such tail is visible in the new images from November 5, 2025.'

3I/ATLAS will make its closest approach to our planet on December 19, just six weeks from now.

While one strange oddity being seen in a comet could be explained by science, Loeb noted that the odds of 3I/ATLAS displaying 10 strange anomalies at the same time are astronomical and point to the object being created by a distant intelligence.

This seems pretty basic, and no mystery except to the “science” loving leftists who are actually science deniers. A lot of the mass of the object is frozen. As it nears a very large and very hot object, e.g. the sun, it melts/steams off. Result? Object losing mass becomes smaller. Don’t these people even have half a brain to make a basic observation? Geesh...

Is there an astrophysicist in the house? (retired is ok.)

“... but it should have a tail.” - unless it is an interstellar generational ship from Betelgeuse sent to colonize the Earth with Humanity v5.0. Earlier generations built the pyramids etc but did not reproduce quickly enough to populate the planet. The Betelgeese estimated that Humanity v4.0 (us) would have died out by now and calculated the arrival of the next ship in time to try again. Big surprise coming ...

There is never an astrophysicist around when you need one.

Curiously, even ice cubes which aren’t in outer space mysteriously shrink when exposed to sunlight. It’s a genuine puzzle.

It sounds like they have observed it making a mid-course correction:

” the noticeable change in the interstellar object’s course”

Not that I don’t think the whole alien mothership stuff isn’t ridiculous, it’s still sorta fun.

So I have an astrophysics question.

Maybe they ejected mass after they reached perihelion.

If they carried a lot of mass on the acceleration in, and then ejected it into the sun, wouldn’t the lower mass allow them to keep more velocity as they escape than they would have if they kept the same amount of mass?

The 13% reduction in mass is a result of it launching “interplanetary crafts” they are headed here looking for Klaatu and Karen Carpenter.
They will demand asylum when they arrive.

Any object speeds up as it approaches the sun to the point of perihelion, then decelerates as it moves away. All this is related to the sun’s gravitational pull on the mass of the object.

Now, let’s say your object (commet, asteroid, rocket, mothership, space-herpie, whatever) has a thousand tons of mass as it approaches the sun, accelerating at the appropriate rate for that mass, and then ejected 50% as it reaches perihelion, then the mass that remained would still have the same velocity it otherwise would have (inertia, or momentum as you call it), but there would be half as much mass in that object with inertia to tug on as it escape, thereby allowing it to keep more of that velocity as it moves outward into the solar system, if my theory is right.

By the way, I would also that the change in the object’s mass should change the shape of it’s exit ellipse.

It has started releasing it’s antimatter torpedoes. Our solar system is doomed. Doomed I tell you.

- point to the object being created by a distant intelligence-

Apparently the distant intelligence is not very smart as they will miss us by 270 million miles.

if my theory is right

It is not. All objects "fall" at the same speed, regardless of mass. An orbit is a fall where there is also a forward velocity component that makes it miss the attracting mass. The "fall" plus the forward momentum are added as a vector, resulting in a course change: the orbit.
