An absolutely incredible moment you have to see from heroic Florida Sheriff Deputies who rescued a 7-year old child who was being strangled by an armed criminal.
They could not have handled this any better than they did.

Did Rand Paul demand to know the perp’s name, and that he got due process before he was shot?
The perp had every chance to surrender. He was told they would kill him. He did not comply and died. He chose poorly. But of most importance a traumatized child walked free with no harm.
Good job cops.

What is publicly known (from the official HCSO press release and body-cam briefing):The fight started inside the home on Alpine Drive, Brandon.
Camacho, 27, grabbed a kitchen knife and began cutting his older sister in the face and mouth; she was bleeding when deputies arrived.
He then dragged his 7-year-old brother into a bedroom, barricaded the door with a mattress and furniture, put on a motorcycle helmet and two ballistic-plate vests, and held the boy in a chokehold with the knife to his throat.
Deputies heard the child screaming and kicked the door in; Camacho ignored 11 separate commands to drop the knife, tightened his grip, and said he would kill the boy.
Background that may have contributed (but is not cited as the trigger):Prior domestic-violence charges in Polk County (both dropped).
At least one Baker Act commitment for mental-health crisis in Volusia County.
Sheriff Chad Chronister and Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer both said the investigation is ongoing and no motive or argument details will be released until FDLE finishes its review. As of today (Nov 3), nothing more has been made public.
A circumstance that wouldn’t have happened had the brother been locked up either in the nuthouse or jail.
We need mental institutions back. I am so glad that the little boy and his sister are alive today. That police officer is a hero.
This same thing happened to a co-worker back in the 1990’s. Her daughter was being held in a bathroom by her husband or ex who had a weapon. A officer shot him dead. She moved to another state afterward.
It depends, did shooting the perp disrupt Bland’s coke supply?
