U.S. — According to sources, the hidden upper echelon embedded in the United States government once again reveled in victory as it cast the nation into darkness at 4:30 p.m., like it does every year.

Daylight Saving Time, which was instituted to extend sunlight during evening hours, was revoked once again on Sunday so that millions could "fall back" an hour and lose the evening sun. Now, the nation is plunged into a horrifying darkness beginning at 4:30 p.m. in what some see as an elaborate plot to keep people depressed and without hope.

"Yes, be shielded by night, my slaves. Let the world fall back into darkness once more!" Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was heard saying. "Let the elder ones rise again!"

When asked if she would ever vote to make DST permanent, Pelosi hissed and retreated into the shadows, of which there are now many because darkness has fallen upon the land.

Just one day after the end of DST, reports of depression rose by over 300% across the country. Kids stopped playing outside and were forced to go indoors and play video games all evening. A thick, reprehensible sense of dread descended upon the country, threatening to strangle out all joy and goodwill.

President Donald Trump, who briefly toyed with the idea of making DST permanent, has claimed dark forces in the government are interfering with his quest of peace and light. "It's a deep state plot," Trump said. "They want it to get dark early. Like, really dark. Pitch black. So black that even Vin Diesel can't see, if you can believe it. They say it's for the farmers, but the farmers don't care."

He added, "JFK was going to expose it, and they killed him. I don't know..."

The business interests that control our politicians want darkness at 8am or later in the morning instead.

So they demand clocks forward 12 months out of the year instead of the current eight months.

Where does Seth Dillon get his money from?

The earth did not slow down. In fact, physically, nothing changed.

It’s all in your mind. ha ha.

I’m in Arizona. This is a problem we don’t have.

I contend that they have it backwards.

If you’re going to do “daylight savings time”, it should be in the winter months. So that at least you can come home in daylight.

As it is now, many drive to work in the dark and come home at dark. No useful daylight hours in your average day. Depressing.

While in the summer, you’re putting children to bed when it’s still daylight! Makes no sense to me.

Why make daylight savings permanent? It’s standard time that should be permanent. Duh!

I live smack in the middle of Eastern US time zone, 75°W.
That means in a sane world, the Sun should be at its highest point relative to me - crossing longitude 75° at noon, all year ‘round.

But because of stupid DST, the Sun doesn’t pass over my longitude until 1PM during the summer.

If people have a problem with how light or dark it is relative to their work or sleep schedule, they should take it up with their employers, not impose their preferences on the rest of us by fiddling with the official time.

Unless we get rid of time zones and go back to using Sundials the sun would only reach its highest point at 12:00 Noon 2 times a year

See the analemma

Isn’t it amazing that when a majority of the American people would really like to see us on one time for the entire year without the silliness of changing the clocks twice the Congress cannot even pass this simple resolution? It is even worse that it has been on the table for several years without action.

It is a pathetic commentary on how dysfunctional and worthless our government is. Absolutely worthless as tits on a boar hog.

It is a state’s rights issue.

Lucky you. I think every state could do this if they wanted to. What mainly disgusts me about it, (other than it apparently is completely unnecessary) is that nuisance of remembering to change the clocks for no good reason.
