Viewing the photo, I have seen worse looking food. Appeal would rely not just on appearance, but the aroma and the texture of the food. It doesn’t help that this “prison loaf” is a huge, uneven brick like creation, unceremoniously dumped onto a warped paper plate. No gravy, no sauteed onion toppings, no nothing.

When I was a kid, there was no EBT, Food Stamps, SNAP, WIC or anything like we have today.
The county distributed food in large cardboard boxes the size of a crate of eggs that had surplus food from USDA commodity programs, flour, peanut butter, cheese, powdered eggs, cornmeal, and other things as well.
They were delicious.............

Mayuube there is some logic to giving people on food stamps pre-made food like “prison loaf” but saying it now really isn’t helpful. The Dems are committing suicide with the shut down. This allows liberals to refocus on evil, heartless conservatives. And for the record, I don’t think the poor should be fed prison loaf. The truly needy American citizens should get food stamps to buy certain categories of food at the supermarket with the obligation to try to get a job if they are able-bodied.
I agree. And all their neighbors should judge them for their lack of productivity towards the advancement of humanity.
If they are truly incapable of productivity, kind souls will take notice and help. If they are just lazy, everyone should frown, walk on the other side of the street and generally scoff at them.
