Public schools across the country are directing teachers to use curriculum resources from a nonprofit that teaches American history through the lens of racial and sexual oppression.
The Zinn Education Project (ZEP), named for the late radical 1960s professor Howard Zinn, pushes controversial resources and lesson plans to teachers for students as young as pre-K, all the way up to grade 12.
ZEP boasts that its curriculum has been adopted by more than 176,000 teachers, who have downloaded more than 765,000 lessons for their students, according to its website. The organization hosts a Teach Truth Day of Action annually, which is co-sponsored by the NEA, America's largest teachers union, and other organizations.
Zinn, who died in 2010, taught at Boston University from the early 1960s until his retirement in 1988. He was the author of "A People’s History of the United States," a book that teaches American history, beginning with Christopher Columbus' discovery of North America and into the 21st century, through a lens of racial and sexual oppression. The principles in his book serve as the benchmark for ZEP's lessons.
In 2003, Zinn described himself as, "Something of an anarchist, something of a socialist. Maybe a democratic socialist."
New York City Public Schools, the largest school district in the country, encourages teachers to use ZEP resources to teach during Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Disability Pride Month and Pride Month.
"The Zinn Education Project also has compiled lesson ideas and relevant primary sources into a resource called 'Teaching with Seizing Freedom' that educators can use in their classrooms alongside the podcast," a Black History resources page on the school system's website says.

The slavery party doing their best to keep people on the plantation. Despicable revisionist anti-freedom grifters.
Communist brainwashing.
Conservatives have a lot of work to do at the national, state & local levels for reforming the school boards and the educational administrative state.
"This history textbook by Howard Zinn is a very leftwing version of U.S. history, full of multicultural, feminist, and class-war propaganda. It is based on the thesis that America is not a republic but an empire controlled by a few white men. Its heroes are anti-establishment protestors. The book debunks traditional heroes, such as Christopher Columbus and Andrew Jackson, and doesn't mention great Americans such as Thomas Edison.
Zinn's textbook deprives young readers of the opportunity to learn that they are part of the great story of American exceptionalism. His book inspires guilt and the belief that success comes only through exploitation. He belittles patriotism, never allowing pride in America. Zinn told one interviewer that his goal in writing this textbook was to start a 'quiet revolution' of people taking power from within the institutions."

How many people even bother to vote in local elections and do research on who is running for their local school boards?
The Zinn text books were stuffed into schools years ago. The result is a generation who hate America especially women. We saw this manifested when the cities burned in the summer of 20.
TPUSA is a vital movement!
Howard Hate America Zinn ALERT! Working through the schools.
Guy looks like Eugene Levy...Just another part of the master plan that was in the pipeline...had things not changed the way they did nine months ago. I suspect this will be rolled back quickly as it is exposed, though I doubt this will be the last of these”programs” we find to have been implemented in what was to come.
Howard Zinn has been the single most destructive “scholar” in the history of this country. If there is anyone whose head I’d like to see on a pike, it is him.
I recommend a far better book: “Debunking Howard Zinn” by Mary Grabar. It came out about 5 years ago and rips Zinn a new one — point by point.
Howard Zinn is one of a very few people’s death I actually celebrated. He was an evil, evil man whose destructive influence continues even today.
The teachers union has to be behind this crap. Can we RICO them into extinction?
> reforming the school boards <
That’s the ticket. College professors have academic freedom. They have great latitude in what to teach.
Not so with public school teachers. They must teach exactly what the school board tells them to teach, or face the consequences.
I taught for many years in urban public schools. The school board members themselves were not so bad. But the supervisors and consultants they hired were terrible.
Those folks were a crazy mix of arrogance, wokeness, and incompetence.
And they were the ones who wrote the courses of study.
And just to show the “success” of Zinn’s socialist (Marxist) teaching methods the reading comprehension level of High School graduates in the US has declined from 12 year level, to only 6 years since he and his socialist co conspirators have controlled the curricula. They are well on their way to creating an illiterate, easily controlled population.
Self-loathing is not a good thing.
I totally agree and the Trump admin better start getting busy with this instead of all this foreign intervention and war focus.
That is what MAGA is about. I guess.
The DSA mission now is to get as many of their commie asses on school boards.
