The nuclear plant at Gundremmingen once produced a quarter of all the power generated in Bavaria. That was before we shut down its reactors in 2017 and 2021, in the course of our insane and totally purposeless nuclear phaseout. In theory anyway, we could have reactivated Gundremmingen in as little as four years. Instead, yesterday at noon exactly, we detonated the plant’s cooling towers. As the ecologically-minded Bayerischer Rundfunk reminds us, we can be grateful that light rain kept the dust pollution to a minimum.
RWE, Gundremmingen’s erstwhile operators, have all kinds of plans for the site. When they finally conclude dismantling the plant in the late 2030s, they want to put a 400-Megawatt battery storage facility there, and also maybe a natural gas power plant and a smattering of solar panels too. If it sounds good they’ll build it in Gundremmingen, but nothing they build there will ever prove remotely capable of producing the 20 TWh that the Unit B and Unit C reactors churned out at their peak.
Germany is presently deindustrialising, in large part because it has the most expensive energy in Europe. Our Economics Minister is begging the EU Commission to green-light more natural gas electricity generation. And we literally just blew up a power plant on live television. A weird clique of freaked out activists, sour schoolmarms and intellectually confused people are dragging Germany into the abyss, while our elected politicians stand around and make tepid suggestions. Our leading industrial city just voted for its own complete deindustrialisation in fifteen years. One in five municipal utilities in Germany hopes to decommission its entire natural gas network by 2045. We are headed straight for disaster.
The truth is that the shrieking media personalities and activists leading the charge don’t want to have good jobs or to bequeath our children a nation full of prospects. Sometimes it seems like they don’t even want to heat their homes in winter. They hope to trade comfort and prosperity for self-denial, for the passing thrill of feeling that they’re doing the right and the virtuous thing. Sometimes I fear they’re going to keep doing this right up until the lights go out.

Germany is in a race to national destruction. In the race are energy and Indy destruction, economic destruction, industrial destruction, cultural destruction, demographic destruction and educational destruction

Germany is also phasing out its coal-fired power plants. I suppose the end result of all this will be that Germany will go begging for energy from other nations.
France has a robust nuclear power program. Russia has natural gas. Etc.
Of course this would mean Germany would turn into a pitiful beggar with little industry of its own. But, hey. At least Greta Thunberg would be happy.

The good news is that once Islam takes over Germany they won’t have any technology left to use against their neighbors.

I don’t watch German TV, but if the plant was truly blown up live, on state-run TV, that’s a very significant, planned, propaganda event by the ruling elites.
It’s like a public execution. They are saying “Look at this evil thing we are killing. Our ideology and our plans will not be deterred.”
They’re just preparing for the 8th century lifestyle preferred by their Ottoman masters.

Angela Merkel started shutting them down after Fukushima. As if the gaping engineering flaws of that plant have anything to do with Germany’s top-tier, safe plants that faced no natural disaster risk. What a waste, another casualty of leftist derangement.

This makes me ashamed to admit that my ancestors (1200-1300AD) came from the Heidelberg region. I always felt a bit of pride in the German folk’s ingenuity, crafts, etc. Obviously the last few generations are sliding down the left side of the Bell Curve.
Saving the planet requires sacrifice.
I used to work with electric utilities, especially coal fired power plants. I made my living because coal is the dirtiest, highest maintenance form of power.
I never once had to visit a nuclear plant, or a hydroelectric plant, or a natural gas fired plant. They just work, cleanly.
Germany has a history of originating and acting on bad ideas.
If memory serves Churchill said the German’s are simultaneously the smartest and dumbest people on earth.
I often feel that many Germans feel they must atone for the crimes of the Nazis. Others simply want to appear morally superior, in order to compensate for feelings of guilt about the Third Reich.
Deutchland, that was all over 80 years ago. Okay, so your grandfather bragged about invading Russia. Get over it. Get on with life.
