I would comply with their request. They know the local security situation. IMHO, of course.
Why set yourself up as an out of town easy target?
:: Republican Christian conference ::
That term is an incongruency.
It makes no sense.
“What would be your response?”
To cancel the trip. And to ask the organizers why they would book a conference in a city that is so hostile to Christians and Republicans that you have to hunker down for your own safety.
No problemo!....................
What credentials?
I think the email was meant to help you (and maybe the venue) avoid harassment from activists. Or prevent criminals looking to pick-pocket, panhandle, or otherwise take advantage of obvious tourists/visitors.
P can I cast a vote for concealed carry?
is it in craphole chicago? if so, ask them why they wouldn’t book it in Orlando where EVERYONE is armed? :)
CCW.
Telll ‘em you will attach your credentials to your holster when you’re out and about
I used to go to four or five conferences every day.
I learned early that wearing your credentials made you a target in these cities. It really has nothing to do with your attending a “Christian” event, it applies to just about any type of conference.
It’s an indication that you probably have money on you, and you are not familiar with the area. That opens you up to robbery, and especially getting screwed on trips to and from the airport.
It applies even moreso for females traveling.
You should never wear your convention/confernce credentials outside the event. This has always been preached by convention managers. Your event has not been targeted as needing extra precaution.
Wearing the credentials makes you a target for pickpocket and mugging. They know you are a tourist.
Your credential badge has your name on it. Folks will call you by name and get friendly making you vulnerable to scam type crimes.
Stay Home!
God’s word tells us to be as gentle as doves, and as wise as serpents. Seems to me that some measure of guile is well-advised.
Where there are large groups of tourists there will be people ready and willing to take advantage of them.
So, carry protection, travel with group and research the area so you know where to go and what places are safe.
And always watch your drink.
Personally I always removed my “nerd badges” once I exited any conference. It IDs you as an out-of-towner if you wear it outside the doors, and looks nerdy anyways.
Plus given the very real anti-Christian animus out there, I’d say just wear a cross on your garb.
I am 6’4” 240#, so wasn’t ever concerned about some blue-hair yelling in my face, but other threat types are real, and need to be honored. Besides, one can never carry to/fr the conferences.
Otherwise, Joshua 1:9 applies.
You a jew faced with this issue?
Since that recent murderous ‘woke and offended’ evil spirit presented itself at events for President Trump AND Charlie Kirk, there is no reason to tell anyone on the outside about your plans.
The Marxists even with their USAID/NGO funding cutoff are all-in on their ‘Color Revolution’ activities and getting increasingly desperate by the day.
Whether attending or not, pray daily for a hedge of protection around yourself and those with you.
I guess I'd have to understand what are the "security reasons".
