Some members of Donald Trump's inner circle are serious about him serving a third term in the White House, according to Steve Bannon.
Trump's former chief strategist — who has remained loyal to the MAGA movement, despite the fact that Trump fired him from his White House role less than a year into his first term — made the comments in an interview with The Economist's editor-in-chief, Zanny Minton Beddoes, and deputy editor, Ed Carr, in Washington, D.C. this week.
Bannon shared his certainty that Trump will remain in office for at least another term.
"He's gonna get a third term," Bannon said. "Trump is gonna be president in '28, and people just sort of [need to] get accommodated with that."
When asked about the 22nd Amendment, which prevents candidates from being "elected to the office of the President more than twice," Bannon said there's a plan in place to work around it.
Baffling his interviewers, Bannon referred to Trump as "a vehicle of divine providence," saying it's the "will of the American people" that he serve another term.
"He's not perfect. He's not churchy, not particularly religious, but he's an instrument of divine will. And you could tell this by how he's been able to pull this off," he continued. "We need him for at least one more term, right? And he'll get that in '28."
"We had longer odds in '16 and longer odds in '24 than we've got in '28," Bannon concluded. "We have to finish what we started."

Trump said no to this. Bannon just fragging the left.
Unfortunately, the phrase "divine providence" is the language of kings.

Haley???? A clueless comment like yours is why we do need talk about a third term.
I thought you’d lost your mind. Thanks for clarifying.
I haven’t heard about this—which Acosta interview?
Keep ‘em busy...!
You might be alone in this...
Rubbish. Steve Bannon is a nut.
Two terms, that’s it. Happy retirement, President Trump.
This is what is behind Bannon’s remarks:
<><>cementing the perception of a “strong Trump in power”
<><>the necessity of keeping his personal popularity up
<><>giving him the strength to govern.
<><>Big Plus.....it irks Democrats.
lol
I don't think so. Here's why:
Even though Bannon may be socially sort of conservative (although I'm not sure how much he cares about that), his real shtick is pushing populist class-envy politics. Look at what Bannon has been saying:
"If the ox has got to get gored, it's got to come out of the wealthy. It's got to come out of the billionaire class."

He's just stoking class envy here, exactly like the left. Every genuine conservative knows that the real problem is spending rather than taxes, that the wealthy are already paying the vast majority of our taxes, that claiming to tax billionaires to pay for anything significant is a sleight-of-hand trick because there's not enough money there, that taxing productivity and innovation is how to get less of it.
On Luigi Mangione, he says:
"It’s also why you see this seething anger about this healthcare CEO being assassinated on the street in New York. A guy that lies in wait, steps out, and shoots a guy at point blank range — pure evil — and that’s as anti-American as you can get. That’s Robert Ford. When terribly misguided people say this guy is a hero, you can’t look away from that. The response to that is not more security for CEOs. It’s looking at how much, since 2008, has gone to stock buybacks for shareholders, not to reinvest in plants and equipment and capital to build jobs and robust communities."

This reminds me of Democrats' reaction to the murder (or to the murder of Charlie Kirk): "It's awful, but people have valid reasons for supporting political violence."
That "It's awful BUT..." framing is a terrible take. It's just like all the Soros DAs who don't put violent criminals in jail because those criminals had their reasons (bad upbringing, a tough life, "institutionalized racism," whatever) — and we should show the criminals some understanding.
Anyway, Bannon is no MAGA conservative, even though he may pay lip service to conservatism on some social issues.
Why do fame and success so often lead to people going around the bend?
PDJT is not going to seek a third term, Mr. Bannon. “They” did not kill Charlie, Ms. Owen. And Tucker — never mind.
JDV/DJT then JD resigns;-)
Nuts.
Exactly.
Well this is one way to split Maga.
With Oversight. Search the three names together to find the relevant section of transcript. Bannon appears to be the source. The comment was said to have been made during interview with transition team.
So technically, it could be true he never said it to Trump . You need to parse his words.
Agree
If he were 65, ok maybe. But finishing a third term at 86? Nope.
I corrected myself in a later post; I meant Tulsi. I got my wires crossed.
