Mamdani’s economic proposals do not match the real challenges of today. He has proposed building a network of city-run, subsidized grocery stores...
Mamdani, blames grocery stores for running up food costs when in reality, grocery stores are some of the lowest-margin businesses around, with 1-2% profit margins in good times.
Mamdani has made “freeze the rent” a rallying cry, even though that would backfire, as rent caps would disincentivize developers to build new housing supply...
The Democratic nominee estimates his agenda will cost taxpayers $10 billion annually. His solution for financing the hefty price tag is to increase taxes on big corporations and the wealthy....
He has also proposed nationalizing all utility companies..
The villainizing of business is regressive, not progressive. History has repeatedly shown that socialism doesn’t work, as ideas that seem good in theory often turn into a mess of government bureaucracy, inefficiency, and inertia,..Capitalism is truly progressive, as capitalism has been directly responsible for the massive leaps in quality of life and prosperity...

Time? Odd at this point when the election is pretty much a lock.
The left is big lately on saying we the people pay the tariffs. Would it be cruel to point out to them that they now have an understanding of the "pass-through" nature of corporate taxes?
Mandami will very likely be a big positive for MAGA because he’ll be such a disaster for NYC. He’ll drive businesses and wealthy individuals out. Since NY’s tax revenue already relies so heavily on taxes paid by the wealthy, this will result in far less tax revenue for NYC, not more.
Also, given current technology, there is no particular reason why the big banks need to have a lot of office workers in NYC. They can easily shift workers to Charlotte, or Miami or have them work remotely.

Will the federal government, the most indebted entity in the world, provide New York City with a federal financial bailout when needed?
Congratulations, New York. You will get what you wanted. When his policies make the situation worse and the denials wear thin, he’ll need someone to blame. I’m guessing Trump, Republicans and white residents.

article is from June ...
“Will the federal government, the most indebted entity in the world, provide New York City with a federal financial bailout when needed?”
i suspect not as long as MAGA is in the majority ... though, PERHAPS with severe strings attached, such as complete Federalization of NYC governance ...
“I’m guessing Trump, Republicans and white residents.”

That ship sank years ago.
If they vote for it that’s their problem.
One of the interesting stats will be what percentage of Jews vote for him.
Watters described free buses as “a rolling crime scene”, irc.
Precisely.
“Mamdani’s economic proposals do not match the real challenges of today. He has proposed building a network of city-run, subsidized grocery stores...”
That will be a hoot, with the corrupt city not prosecuting for misdemeanors the shop lifters will strip the shelves as soon as they’re filled.
