America’s largest business lobby explores lawsuit against Trump’s H-1B visa fee

America’s largest business lobby, the US Chamber of Commerce, is exploring legal action against the Trump administration’s decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications, Bloomberg reported. The move has reignited debate on the role of Indian professionals in the US economy and the political calculations behind Washington’s tightening visa rules.

Chamber officials this week consulted member companies in a series of calls and virtual meetings to test support for a lawsuit. The consultations reflect widespread unease among large corporations, particularly technology firms, which are the heaviest users of the H-1B programme.

The Chamber had previously challenged a Trump-era proclamation in 2020 that suspended new nonimmigrant visas, a case it won in federal court. This time, its ability to move forward hinges on convincing companies to join the lawsuit and demonstrate legal harm.

The fee announcement followed months of campaigns by Trump’s political base targeting Indian professionals on social media. Critics argue this move undermines America’s own competitiveness, as Indian workers are among the most educated, highest-earning, and most assimilated immigrant groups in the country.

“I mentor students in high school and college looking to get into technology, specifically cybersecurity, and unfortunately the passion isn’t there. They don’t ask questions relevant to the field, and when pressed on technical knowledge about particular subjects, they aren’t mentally agile enough to answer or even have a conversation to help us to gauge their troubleshooting or engineering capabilities. “

Why do you think the students are like that?

It’s not only the education system, but seems like the character and will aren’t there either from what you are saying

The H1B Indians are some of the lowest IQ individuals out there compared to the Americans whose jobs they stole.

There are 750,000 current H1B holders. H1Bs steal American jobs. Those who defend H1Bs are not MAGA, are not for Americans.

Trump's H1B EO is gaslighting us. It does NOTHING about the 'current' 750,000 H1B holders and gives exceptions to certain categories of many new applications.

The love of money and greed in corporations is why a nation of 350 million has any work visa program.

Make 'Americans' (not Indians) Great Again .

Then they should stay in India and make it a better place.

American Jobs for Americans.

Also, a small group has a higher percentage than a much larger group, ever heard of confirmation bias?

Gee intentionally pick a select population and then claim they are better than the average population of a different group, “How to lie with statistics 101.”

The stolen jobs should be returned to American workers, too. Fire the Indians and rehire the Americans.

Indians are pretty good immigrants but the system has been abused to replace American workers. There are only so many perfect SAT Americans and only so many perfect SAT Indians. But, with 5 times the US population, they have a lot more of them. Getting some of theirs is ok with me. Besides, those girls have that shiny black hair.

I hear ya. I’d eject all illegals and have a 20-year moratorium.

Make us start educating our own children again.

That’s not saying much because they aren’t really assimilating much at all.

Besides, where in the Constitution is the federal government granted power to import foreign workers?

This should be considered treason. The Bush league Republicans strike back....

America is just a marketplace to them. Not a country. Just a slave auction. Anything and everything to make a buck. The almighty dollar is their god and they’ll gladly replace you and flood out Christianity in a sea of foreigners worshipping foreign gods if that’s what it takes to make a buck.

The barbarians were let through the gates and now they are ‘entitled’ to everything inside. And the traitors that opened the gates have too much money to make off of the invaders to care about anyone else.

What a sick bunch of traitors.

It’s a sad fact that Americans rank very low in math and science proficiency.

Science especially... I mean where else can a science teacher teaches students that a man can give birth? And math...if you say 2+2=5, the math teacher will give you a gold star and say...nice try...if you say it is, it is true...

The American tech workers whose jobs were stolen by the H1B Indians have higher math scores than the Indians whose replaced them.

Character and will are built by family and community. There’s a notable lack of family involvement in the lives of these young people. There is some, don’t misunderstand, but by and large we’re seeing an entire generation raised on Internet-connected devices. And community, specifically faith-based community, has been dying. I’m praying for a revival, but the downward slump has been precipitous. These breed character in youth and a desire to succeed.

Why try to succeed when the Internet tells you that it’s hopeless? If you’re white, esp. male, you’re told from a very young age that you’re not worth the same as an Indian child or an Asian child or even a black child. Why try if the world is against you?

“cybersecurity”

Dear Windows 10 User:

Our 5,000 plus Asian Indians are unable to secure your PC despite all too numerable attempts.

Instead of working with Intel to develop a secure processor with a pinout compatible with your machine that you might buy for $50, we want you to buy a new machine that will cost an arm & leg with Trump tariffs and then rent software from Microsoft for $99/year.

We at Microsoft are most grateful for your ignorance in technology and math and for Intel’s management failures.

Asian Indian CEO of Microsoft

Glad to hear somebody bringing attention to the fraud. I'm in tech, I've experienced a lot of this H-1B crap.

Even worse for Americans finding a job in tech. We have 7% unemployment rate in STEM. So why do US Corporations keep filing for more H-1B Visas?
