America’s largest business lobby, the US Chamber of Commerce, is exploring legal action against the Trump administration’s decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications, Bloomberg reported. The move has reignited debate on the role of Indian professionals in the US economy and the political calculations behind Washington’s tightening visa rules.
Chamber officials this week consulted member companies in a series of calls and virtual meetings to test support for a lawsuit. The consultations reflect widespread unease among large corporations, particularly technology firms, which are the heaviest users of the H-1B programme.
The Chamber had previously challenged a Trump-era proclamation in 2020 that suspended new nonimmigrant visas, a case it won in federal court. This time, its ability to move forward hinges on convincing companies to join the lawsuit and demonstrate legal harm.

The fee announcement followed months of campaigns by Trump’s political base targeting Indian professionals on social media. Critics argue this move undermines America’s own competitiveness, as Indian workers are among the most educated, highest-earning, and most assimilated immigrant groups in the country.

I work in tech and work with a lot of Indians. Most of them assimilate very well. They speak better English than the stereotypical call center resource, and they’re very proud to say they live in America.
The bigger problem here is that American resources are substandard by technological education. It’s a sad fact that Americans rank very low in math and science proficiency. This should be starting a conversation about how to bring up the next generation to be competitive with Indian and Chinese students, but instead we’re focusing on our disdain for Indian call center reps and entire teams of Indians developing software for American companies.
I mentor students in high school and college looking to get into technology, specifically cybersecurity, and unfortunately the passion isn’t there. They don’t ask questions relevant to the field, and when pressed on technical knowledge about particular subjects, they aren’t mentally agile enough to answer or even have a conversation to help us to gauge their troubleshooting or engineering capabilities. Anyone can learn to code. If you can’t unravel a complex problem into a number of actionable steps, your critical thinking capabilities are subpar.
We should be focused on making American schools better. This is a multi-generational problem.
Time for Trump to ask the Chamber who they love more: American workers or international workers?
mucusmaximus is a goat-roping troll for India hate, so don’t expect a reasoned response out of him.
Don’t expect any financial contributions for FR Q4 2025 from the deadbeat freeploading troll, either.
I think that answer is clear. They love cheap workers. It can be Indian, Chinese or North Korean.
All that matters to The Chamber is price.
The US Chamber of Commerce represents Deep State.
We need schools to focus on self-esteem, not numbers and tech.
They are not the most educated, American jobs for Americans first.
As for assimilated tell that to the dead family for one of the “assimilated” truck drivers. Ya he was not H1B but puts the lie to the idea of assimilation.
Companies should be tried for crimes against humanity for importing Indians into America
Bring your case. See how that works out for you.
On average, Indians in the US are significantly more educated and make significantly more money than other ethnic groups.

Does seem obsessed with it, doesn’t he
“We should be focused on making American schools better.”
Said another way, which entity is more to despicable and detrimental to the US population, the collective CoC/H-1B Visa program or collectively teacher unions? Seems easy an answer.
There was a congratulatory Time Mag article on how Big Labor, the Left, Soros, and the Chamber of Commerce (headed by the now deceased Thomas Donohue) met regularly in 2020 to steal the election from Trump. No one decent should listen to a thing that organization has to say.
I had a helluva time holding a job in the early 2000s thanks to the H1-B influx and tech’s march to offshoring tier 1 everything. I worked my ass off for 5 years to ascend the ladder into what I do today, but that gumption is absent so many today. Besides the lack of critical thinking, mathematics, and science skills, today’s youth also think they’re owed something, esp. those right out of university. When I tell them my story, they find it anachronistic and “old fashioned.”
Apparently today’s young workforce just get what they want when they get hired? Problem is, they’re not getting hired.
This.
Woke teachers do not want to offend certain groups by having standards. What’s important is to make students know who they are so they can choose which type of victimization they belong to.
