“Jay-Z Runs The Super Bowl”: Antonio Brown Accuses Jay-Z Of Rigging Super Bowl Halftime Picks As Bad Bunny Claims Cultural Victory
Times of India ^ | 2025 | Barsha Dutta

The NFL’s announcement that Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show has sparked excitement across music and sports. But while fans celebrate the Puerto Rican superstar’s historic booking, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is questioning how these selections are actually made—and pointing directly at Jay-Z.

He wrote: "Barack Obama's best friend Jay-Z runs the Super Bowl selection process through his company Roc Nation which has an exclusive contract with the NFL. This is who chooses the halftime show, the most watched musical performance in America."

His claim adds weight to ongoing discussions about how much power Roc Nation holds in shaping one of the biggest entertainment moments in the world. Since 2019, Jay-Z has officially partnered with the NFL as its “live music entertainment strategist,” and Roc Nation has served as co-producer of halftime productions.

Amid the speculation, Bad Bunny himself is focused less on politics and more on representation. In his statement, he explained: “What I'm feeling goes beyond myself. It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

From Brown’s sharp claims about behind-the-scenes control to Bad Bunny’s emotional emphasis on cultural pride, the halftime show conversation reflects more than just music. It is about power, representation, and identity.

Jay Z’s wife has already done an SB halftime show so I guess it would have looked a bit too nepo to have her do another.

I think the Gay Bunny is more the type for modern day football “fannies”.

I have a modest proposal.

Let’s consider the reality that football as a sport is an incredible teaching mechanism. Strategy, power, teamwork and individuality, brutality, rules, disagreements, emotions, rivalry…it’s better than almost every other sport in this regard.

There are tons of people who say “boycott the NFL.” Well…I get it. At the same time, I don’t work for tons of people. And frankly, boycotting the NFL is akin to boycotting FR because the mods don’t zot every bigot on this board.

As such, for those who like to think, here’s the proposal:

1. Watch the Super Bowl, on TV or stream it.
2. Set up an app or webpage or X account etc and track all the advertisers in real time.
3. Flood the advertisers’ social media with BOYCOTT posts in real time. Keep it up forever.
4. During the halftime show, change the channel to the Puppy Bowl or Nickelodeon or the Food Network etc. Drop from streaming services so much that it’s noticeable.
5. Flood the Puppy Bowl et al advertisers’ sites with “WE LOVE YOU AND ARE BOYCOTTING _____.”
6. Flood Bad Bunny’s social media with Images of Trump while he’s performing. Never stop.
6. Wait until kickoff, then go back to the SB.

Jack Posobiec announced that Turning Point USA will be hosting their own half-time show with American performers at the exact same time as the NFL hot mess of a half-time show.

I’ll be logging on to watch that.

From a $$$ standpoint, Bad Bunny as superbowl halftime artist makes a lot of sense. He’s going to make Jay Z a lot of money.

A different established top artist, like Taylor Swift or Metallica, would probably cost Jay Z a lot of money.

I dumped TV in my home in 1997, so obviously I’ve never seen a superbowl since then, though I’ve watched a couple of halftime shows on youtube. Loved the Who.

I keep hearing about this guy, but I have no idea who he is and don’t really care. For me it’s a bit like the old threads about the bird flu, swine flu, and yes, even Covid. It’s a curiosity that I pretty much ignore - until it plays out and dies out.

Key words, “pretty much”. I mean, I posted this, right?🤣

He’s a performer that dressed in drag and French kisses men on stage. He’s vulgar and disgusting, and is saying you need to learn how to speak Spanish. And he was hired to perform at the Super Bowl half time show so that the PTB can laugh in your face as children are exposed to his deviancy.

here’s to hoping some humility from having been chosen, along with the backlash, will motivate him to surprise everyone with a pro-American and wholesome display.
