‘No Trump, no vote’ — where will MAGA purists go in 2028?
The Hill ^

Like it or not — like him or not — Trump truly is a “once in a century” personality. He has that elusive “it factor” that can’t be faked, imitated or bought. You either have it, or you don’t. Trump has it in spades, and he’s come into the last three elections with tens of millions of guaranteed votes in his back pocket.

They had none in ‘92. BJ came out of nowhere. We can’t be too sure.

A winning candidate must be the “total package”. The trick is for candidates appear as if they meet my #1 motivation to vote . Current economic conditions is usually the #1 motivation. Credibility as an executive is usually #2. Then there are many and varied #3s.

The winner is the “total package”.

Right now? It’s a toss up between Vance and Rubio, though Rubio is proving to be the best SOS we’ve ever had, and Vance one of the best VPs we’ve ever had, if not the best.

Modern military conflicts don’t lend themselves to ‘learning on the job’ any more. You rather do need to have a professional standing army now due to how high tech warfare is.

Pure projection, as always. They support ridiculous positions all because they hate Trump.

We have the navy and the air force. So we should focus mostly on planes, drones and nukes.

There are plenty of people who were anti Trump, who have seen the light and now support him fully.

JD Vance can do the job. I really believe that. I would like to see him and Rubio or maybe SecWar Pete Hegseth. Either would be fine with me and that would be a strong ticket. REMEMBER, Trump is only a phone call away for advice, like maybe, as in Trump is telling them what they should be doing, like daily!

I hope so. The Tea Party didn’t hang in very long.

None of those can take or hold ground. Navy is largely irrelevant against other land based forces using Mexico or Canada as a supply route.

We only need a large standing army if we want to maintain an empire.

We have intervened in many nations around the world after WWII.

We need to step away from being the world police.

IMO, we ended up in WW 2 because of our interference in WW 1.

Even without empire, these days we do need one. Again, look at the performance of National Guard units in recent conflicts. High casualties, high equipment loss rates, long time to get up to speed in a combat environment.

Note that we have a *real* large military threat on our Southern border. Most of the cartels’ men are ex-Mexican Army.

Regarding the cartels in Mexico, we are not going to need a large standing army unless you want us to occupy Mexico.

We do have Special Forces and all that jazz.

We’re going to need them for border security, north *and* south.

He wasn’t just anti-Trump. He was a GOP attack dog against Trump. There’s a difference. It’s not just his anti-Trump past though. He thinks that republicans should work with the democrat communists, sit down and negotiate. As if they want anything that is good for the country besides enslavement and destruction. Listen to his pleas to the democrat communists to open the government. Typical GOP boilerplate. Very weak. The communists haven’t gotten where they are today without the help of The GOP. He doesn’t seem to understand the moment.
