It seems like the Total Fertility Rate collapse is a mega-trend that is not being incorporated into conservative expectations. In addition to the economic problem of a system historically based on perpetual growth, we are going to have to come up with a practical answer to entitlements like Social Security. I don't think our present system can accommodate this.

Half the boomers will be dead in a couple more years from taking the vaxx so likely this will not be a huge problem.

Look I’m not a commie and neither am I stupid. If you want capitalism to continue in this country something needs to be done about the inordinate wealth inequality in this country or you’re just asking for trouble. This is just a matter of commonsense assuming you have an IQ over the idiot level.

Your comment seems to imply a government solution is needed, I doubt that is your intent.

The uniqueness of America is the ability to move up and down the social/economic ladder.

You can take a static picture of the situation and say something needs to be done but beware that the system is WORKING. Things are changing.

Trump is reducing govt and regulation to allow more movement. Lets not fix it with a magic bullet, let the system work it’s way through.

Grok is wrong. I looked at my actual SS contributions since 1975. I'm currently 65 (yes first paycheck at 15). When you appropriately count the employer match (part of my compensation) I contributed $464k through 2024.

Thank you for your input. Grok is often wrong, although I probably asked the question in a way that led to the bad result. The real problem are all of the recent arrivals who never paid into either Social Security or Medicare but are collecting benefits and huge payouts for medical expenses and who knows what else, along with outlandish administrative fees and a high percentage of fraud.

I restated my question to Grok and got back a table showing the maximum amount of Social Security payments into the system each year since 1938. This might be more to your liking and Grok admitted that if you were self-employed or counting your employers match that your situation was completely possible. Here is a link to that table and statement.

Thanks for the update and it seems to match closer to my actual results including employer contributions
