Secretary of War Pete Hegseth offered the top military leaders of our nation a choice: Accept the anti-DEI, pro-America reforms or resign from the Armed Forces.
At a historic meeting bringing together hundreds of military officers and officials, Hegseth minced no words, making it clear that there will be no more woke propaganda and rigged standards, but everyone in the U.S. military, from the generals and admirals on down and regardless of sex, will have to meet rigorous standards. “So whether you're an Airborne Ranger or a chairborne Ranger, a brand new private or a four-star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass your PT test,” Hegseth laid out.
While expressing his gratitude for the service that is such a “sacrifice to yourselves and to your families,” Hegseth warned, “If the words I'm speaking today are making your heart sink, then you should do the honorable thing and resign.”
The Secretary of War is optimistic (perhaps overly optimistic) about convincing even the many wokified top brass to accept reforms, however. “I suspect — I know the overwhelming majority of you feel the opposite; these words make your hearts full,” Hegseth said. “You love the War Department because you love what you do, the profession of arms. You are hereby liberated to be an apolitical, hard-charging, no-nonsense, constitutional leader that you joined the military to be. We need you locked in on the M, not the D, the E, or the I, not the DEI or the D, I, E of ‘dime’.” M, of course, is for military.
Hegseth warned the military leaders, “No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses, no more climate change worship, no more division, distraction, or gender...”

I know marines who are combat vets who despise Trump. They do not get that they are not being paid to have an opinion, that they are under the UCMJ to keep their political opinions to themselves. No clue that the electorate who pays them has elected Trump

There is, but it’s still challenging. I scored Excellent for 29 of my 30 years in the Air Force, usually meeting the younger standard. The last year my knee was so destroyed I mechanically could not run and had to do the walk instead. Pissed me off. A leader should be setting the physical standard as well.

The unit program members weren’t allowed to do the run when I first transferred to a unit from the IMA world. Not allowed to run?! WTH? They changed that about 3 years later.

I don’t believe you can reach people who have achieved their officers station in life who believe and have internalized the illogical, the impossible, the unreal. At best they may salute what they regard as bullshit in order to collect their pension.
Hegseth told them that they’ve all already been evaluated and they know who is who.

That’s why I always led PT when I was a battery commander at Fort Bliss (nearly 45 years ago). Yeah, it was only a HQ battery (clerks and cooks), but they were mine for an hour a day. 20 minutes of calisthenics followed by a 2 mile run in formation with jodies.
My pass rate on the PT test was over 98%, 5 failed out of 300, and all passed on the second try.
The 5 bird colonels in my battery all passed, too. They supported me 100%.

As you well know you can do a hell of a lot in terms of conditioning at an hour a day.
I imagine that many generals/admirals are contacting each other to form the resistance. A lot of them, probably most, won’t fall in line. Flag officers and field grade officers are majority leftist. They’re enjoying their perks and pay and aren’t going to change.
