Thousands of young Indians have mapped their adult lives with the aim of moving to the US, plans that now lie in tatters.
Meghna Gupta* had planned it all – a master’s degree by 23, a few years of working in India, and then a move to the United States before she turned 30 to eventually settle there.
So, she clocked countless hours at the Hyderabad office of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT firm and a driver of the country’s emergence as the global outsourcing powerhouse in the sector. She waited to get to the promotion that would mean a stint on California’s West Coast.
Now, Gupta is 29, and her dreams lie in tatters after US President Donald Trump’s administration upended the H-1B visa programme that tech firms have used for more than three decades to bring skilled workers to the US.

That has been my experience as well.
This about white collar STEM jobs. These are not about low end jobs in the USA . This isn’t about blue collar work. Now American STEM GRADS will have these jobs at good pay that can support families.
They don’t live on welfare. They see the USA as the land of opportunities to work hard and make money and settle. The problem is that this reduces top end work for native born Americand

I’ve never met a single American who planned his/her life around moving to India for a career. I don’t think there are any equivalents to H1-B visas coming from any country worth living in outside of the US.
I’ve known several hippies who went to India to join some guru’s ashram, learn yoga, get high (there are several stoner festivals in that country including one for opium) or just to visit, but MOVE there?

They should stay home and educate their countrymen to quit shitting in the rivers; wrapping the dead in cloth and sending them down the river; and quit drinking that water. They believe they are the most beautiful people in the world. Stay home and make India Great Again. Oh, wait. Was it ever?
Not only does this have the benefit of providing more and better paying jobs to Americans who were being undercut by cheap foreign labor, but this has the added bonus of radically slashing immigration from India. Since most of them vote Democrat its in America’s interest that we reduce the number of them.
