President Donald Trump warned on Friday that if the Supreme Court shoots down his global tariffs than the United States will owe “trillions and trillions of dollars” to other nations.
Trump joined Fox & Friends on Friday where he discussed a number of topics, including the shooting and killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
While talking up his tariff strategy, the president admitted that trillions could be added to the United States’ debt should he end up losing in the Supreme Court, which recently agreed on an expedited timeline to rule on whether Trump’s tariffs are legal.
The president said on Friday:
It’s given us a great power to negotiate with other countries that took advantage of us, tremendous power. Also, it’s brought in trillions of dollars into our country. We have a big case brought by foreign governments because the foreign governments have been ripping us off for years and it’s now in the Supreme Court That case is really important to win because it’s made us a rich country. It’s made us a rich country because I don’t want to call it retribution but we’ve been ripped off.
Should the tariffs be shot down by the Supreme Court, he added, the United States will owe trillions more than it already owes.
“That Supreme Court case is so important,” Trump said. “And, frankly, this economy, if we win the tariff case — which we should, on the legal merits, but on common sense merits — we would have to give back trillions of dollars to these countries. Can you imagine? We would have give back trillions and trillions of dollars because we got it because of tariffs.”
Why?
Ask Deep State.
All tariffs since 1974 were executive orders. It’s a lot of money.
The case was filed on behalf of five owner-operated businesses who claimed severe harm from the tariffs: V.O.S. Selections, FishUSA, Genova Pipe, MicroKits LLC, and Terry Precision Cycling.
The point is to inflict behavioral changes in the way the economy works. The case has no merit. Income taxes have caused me great harm so when will SCOTUS hear my case?
We already know how three of the justices will rule.
The OP is a TDSer...
“Thank you for time and effort posting these for greater understanding.”

I second that. Thanks to BG for posting the relevant factual info.
Exactly. Obviously, it couldn’t spot hyperbole if it bit it on the birthing hole.
“Income taxes have caused me great harm so when will SCOTUS hear my case?”
Every penny of income tax that you’ve paid has been pursuant to a tax law enacted by Congress. The same is true of most past tariffs. The issue before SCOTUS is the validity of tariffs not enacted by Congress, but imposed only on the basis of an Executive Order.
As I understand it, the law allows the President to impose tariffs unilaterally under certain conditions. So it’s not the case that every tariff must be approved by Congress, but it’s also not the case that the President can do whatever he pleases. There’s a gray area. Gray areas are why we have courts.

I would be interested who the owners (US or overseas) are of these firms.
Careful. You might be exiled to the TDS penalty box by clearly elucidating the legal issues.
My guess is that they’re all locally owned, but even if they’re not it’d be immaterial to their standing. If you, a US citizen, own an apartment in Munich or a bike shop in Vancouver you’d be entitled to equal protection under German or Canadian law.
Trump is going to win his case because the Trade Act of 1974 gives POTUS tariff authority. You blood sucking Free Traitors are going to be put in your place .
So is the complaint about harmed caused or POTUS authority? All forms of revenue cause harm.
4 traitor companies to boycott.
4 traitor companies to boycott.
It is to laugh.
“Harm,” as you define it, is not conclusive of the constitutionality of a law.
If it were, no government would be capable of enforcing any tax or statute.
When you traitors lose will you go away and STHU?
I’ve got nothing to win or lose, save for a reversal of the $17 that my wife got tariffed for a couple spools of Danish yarn.
Most likely.
