Visibly angry and upset, Donald Trump described Charlie Kirk as a martyr for truth and freedom, as he paid tribute to a man he considered to be not just a close friend, but also someone who played a significant role in his re-election and in shaping the MAGA movement.
Trump directly blamed radical left-wing politics for contributing to this atrocity and other recent violent political attacks.
He noticeably did not mention recent murders and violent attacks against Democrats.
Often atrocities like this create an atmosphere of political unity.
Many senior politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, have responded by saying this kind of violence has no place in American democracy.
But there is also a widespread, furious and febrile reaction among followers of Trump and Kirk which is demanding retribution. This feels like a dangerous moment in America.

What recent murders and violent attacks against Democrats? You gonna try the Minnesota gambit? That guy claimed the US government trained him "off the books" and said Governor Tim Walz directed him to assassinate Amy Klobuchar so he, Walz, could take her place. You gonna try to call that political? The guy was obviously psychotic.
What's the next lie? Gabby Giffords? Look him up. He was an Independent, was not political and was judged incompetent to stand trial because he was a lunatic. Again, not political.
What else ya got? Paul Pelosi? That guy was a left leaning Canadian and by all accounts, another complete nutjob. Once again, not political.
Now, shall we talk about Steve Scalise? 2 attempts on President Trump? Charlie Kirk? The assassinations and attempts on others for political reasons have all come from Leftists. Many of these people are openly celebrating Luigi who murdered that healthcare exec in NYC. Guess what. Its all coming from the Left.

Our domestic media has been wringing their hands about this very idea with fears of “backlash against muslims” for almost two decades, and in recent years it’s been fears of “backlash against the trans community”. I don’t know if appalling is even adequate enough to describe this.
