Is Trump trying to punish India's prized IT sector next?

After imposing steep tariffs on Indian goods, the US seems to be exploring a new front: potential tariffs on IT services, foreign remote workers, and outsourced business processes. Coupled with proposals to overhaul the H-1B visa system, and an increased levy on remittances made by Green Card holders and temporary visa workers, the move points to a broader strategy that could constrain India's most significant export engine: its human resources, including its engineers, coders, and students who sustain both Silicon Valley and the ITES boom in the US.

The debate gained traction when conservative commentator Jack Posobiec posted on X that "all outsourcing should be tariffed" and that foreign countries must "pay for the privilege of providing services remotely to the US the same way as goods."

He added that the approach could be applied "across industries, levelled as necessary per country."

The post was later reposted by Senior Counsellor for Trade and Manufacturing, Peter Navarro, indicating that these ideas are resonating with the most powerful in the White House.

If implemented, such measures could fundamentally alter the economics of global outsourcing.

Tariffs on foreign remote workers would raise the cost of providing IT and back-office services to US companies, potentially prompting firms to rethink contracts, increase prices, or even bring work back stateside.

The ripple effects could disrupt supply chains, delay projects, and erode profit margins for Indian IT companies heavily reliant on the American market.

I’ve met many good Indian’s. That said, they have culture rot. There’s a reason entire call centers are scamming organizations coming, almost exclusively, out of India.

In our organization, I do notice that once an Indian becomes a manager, from that point on everyone below them in the org is also Indian.

While we try to be tolerant, they use it against us.

I called for this on September 1:

Let China take their H-1B workers instead.

I know in my little part of the world that tariffs on India is having an effect. My company makes large industrial off-highway equipment. Many of the gears and hydraulic cylinders we use are produced in Italy. As a cost savings, a significant amount of these parts and components were being resourced from Italy to India.

Guess what resourcing program just got kiboshed because the cost savings no longer exists?

I was talking about the entitled left. Do not tell me they like work. Unless it is on the streets protesting America.

I don’t live with delusions. The more Americans that have gotten used to free food, Section 8, and sitting home on their butts (covid scam added greatly to that) the worse it has gotten.

I would love to put manufacturing and jobs back to the American people. I remember those days before NAFTA and the globalist destruction of jobs. Watching once lively cities and towns get the life sucked out of them. I live near one of them. Damn near every other hospital or medical worker is foreign born anymore.

I have long been against all this foreign invasion. I also believe that only people who are born legally in America and have only American citizenship should hold any office in our government.

I think that is a prevalent urban legend.
The people these jobs are being ripped from have: 1. Been doing those jobs for years and are being laid off for cheaper labor, 2. Are recent tech college grads who are well qualified but priced out of the market and additionally the Indians hired have a high incidence of fake credentials, nepotism hires, and poor work performance.

First of the commies took over the education system and got rid of shop classes (too dangerous) and home economics (sexist). Then they said “we will teach you how to code”. They aren’t smart enough to code so they couldn’t teach coding and we ended up without shop skills, home economics or coding and actually they weren’t smart enough to teach reading so we have a population that is functionally illiterate. There is still a subset of the population that is smart enough to learn to read and code entirely on their own so we aren’t completely screwed but the perception is that we don’t have IT capability so we must import it from India where they still teach their children to read.

The consulting industry needs to be reformed. I’ve been a consultant since leaving Vietnam. There is a need and place for consultants.

But often consulting is a way for management to insulate themselves from mis-management, from risky and bad decisions. It is a way for management to have plausible deniability.

Don’t blame Asians. It was US corps that enthusiastically embraced this kinda slavery in order to get rid of white US techs. US techs that were close to vesting on things like pension and stock options. HR closely monitors crappola like that and puts the vulnerable on a “kill list” so that an Indian company can send a substitute.

Do not call me a traitor. I am not that. Funny thing is I am actually for stopping the H1b program but then you are incapable of seeing that. You obviously have some personal issues so I will just ignore you.

People like you are not able to have discussions because you can’t handle it. Just run out and make ridiculous accusations.

I sure hope this happens. It’s about time. I’ve seen Indian contractors here on visas take over entire IT departments like locusts.

That is one thing that really rubs me.

Many of these judges and democrat prosecutors have Soros behind them.

If someone is looking for traitors, look to democrats who appoint this foreign rabble or RINOs who give democrats what they want without question.

Have you seen who UK just made their Home Secretary? A female muzzard. That is what democrats will do if they get in again.

There are tons of smart n capable East Europeans who should be working here on H1B visas. In fact we used to get more of them until the Indian body shop gangsters figured out how monopolize H1B visas. You find these “bargain” India H1B tech working in hospitals, state and city governments... Not just in computer outfits such as Microsoft.
