This song might be cancelled today, or called a groomer song, as Sharona Alperin was 17 and Doug Fieger was 25, but Sharona Alperin doesn't seem to have any misgivings. She is a real estate agent and markets herself as the Sharona from the song, and even has the song on her web site. ("Do you have any houses that are a little more new wave?")

M-M-My Mom Sharona: A Daughter Reflects on the Knack Hit as It Turns 40
I hated that song. Still do. 😏
My Mackenzie.
The album pic reminds of Chandra Levy.
When this song came on the radio one evening during dinner I said to my wife, “Doesn’t it sound like they’re singing, “My Sca-rotum? She immediately fell out laughing her ass off. Yes, it does indeed sound like that. Lolol!
“My Sharona” would go on to inspire Michael Jackson’s iconic song “Beat It.” His producer challenged him to write a song that was rhythmically and stylistically similar to the Knack’s hit. “Beat It” became one of Jackson’s first major solo hits and is considered one of the best rock songs of all time.
I never knew the ‘Sharona’ behind the tune! Always LOVED that song - it has it all; great base line, you can dance to it, catchy and memorable lyrics, etc.
If course as a, ‘Diana’ guys older than I am have always sung the Paul Anka version of ‘Diana’ to me. A 1957 hit; I was born in 1960.
Hey! It’s better than being associated with Michael Jackson’s ‘Dirty Diana!’ LOL!
Yeah, very groomy.
She once had a lovely, ahem, presentation.
I wasn’t fond of the song
And his fixation waned
But love songs then were better than now
Do folks even sing about love anymore
Do young women believe in it?
Songs I hear are about sex and rather graphic as in porn graphic
Sloppy WAP songs
And steely Dan on showbiz kids got whacked for the F bomb
Now presidential candidate women laugh about how much they liked WAP
I see Gauls outside the perimeter for sure and the gate is wide open culturally
No question of that
Maybe whimsical but man woman love us as much the mortar of civilization as a morality grounded by belief in a creator is
Knuke the Knack!
Just read the lyrics. Sophomoric.
On my ninth birthday, my mom took me to the store and let me choose an album. I picked “Get The Knack”.
The album included a song called “She’s So Selfish”. which was rather “adult” for a nine year old. It’s a good thing that my mother never paid attention to the music I listened to, lol. The song slaps, though.
