A Florida man sentenced to death for raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl did the state a favor last week — by killing himself before it could execute him, officials said.
Matthew Caylor, 50, had been on death row for 16 years for raping and fatally strangling Melinda Hinson in 2008.
"Matthew Caylor was a sexual predator that had violated his parole in Georgia and came down here for a last hurrah in Bay County,” Basford said. “After a trial and numerous appeals, he knew he was facing the same inevitable fate as Kayle Bates.
“By committing suicide, he saved the taxpayers of Florida a lot of money.”

Too bad he didn’t do it before his crimes began.

It's just too bad that they don't consider killing themselves
before they rape or kill.
Maybe if television starts airing PSAs...

I’ve always been an advocate of placing memorial plaques for jagoffs who offed themselves on death row while furnishing them with extra bedsheets with which they could hang themselves. After a few years of looking at those plaques, they might get the idea to join them. No plaque if they wait for a clinical execution by the state.

Anyone in prison for life or a very long sentence should be given the right to euthanasia.

Give them old style sailors hammocks to sleep in - saves a ton of space, with the ROPES tied to the HARDWARE FIXTURES in the CEILINGS. They can have a nice reading CHAIR to sit in under the hammock during the day.

if voluntary suicide was offered as an option for prisoners, and if approved, a painless and dignified method, such as lethal injection or oral medication (as used in assisted dying protocols), would be administered in a controlled medical setting. This would likely involve trained medical professionals, not prison staff, to maintain ethical standards.
